The shocking example of an idol that was rushed from hospital to perform

Some context:

AKB48 were about to hold a concert at the Seibu Dome when their center Atsuko Maeda (Acchan) started hyperventilating badly so she was sent to hospital.

But since she was so important to the group she had to return for the concert despite still being in a terrible state.

Idk what to say to this... it is both sad, scary and somehow impressive because it shows how seriously she took her job. It also made me love Takamina for how she handled the situation.

I can't imagine how regular this happened on bts

I mean fans caught some idols were fainting/collapse right after get off stage (this is severe case when they can't handle until get back to backstage), the determine is real to finish the performances be4 broke down. Can't imagine how often happened on bts were not known...

Am I the only one who thinks first in these situations, 'they are too afraid of losing their jobs to ask for a break' rather than, 'they love performing for their fans that much'

Maybe not with acchan because she's a star so they couldn't have touched her anyway, but with other idols

I don't know if that would be the case here. The more popular you are, the more work you're going to get

So with groups like 48G/46G, you invariably have the problem of the less popular girls not getting that much work, therefore having a lot of free time and probably less stress. Meanwhile the really popular girls get so much work, that they have no free time for themselves and eventually keel over. So I don't think you would necessarily have the problem of idols worrying about getting fired from not wanting to work, because they probably wouldn't have been able to get enough work in the first placeimstupid.png

Here's a clip, related to what I'm talking about.

I remember watching the documentary and not only Acchan, but some other members of the Kami7 were also hyper-ventilating after performances and had to be carried around in the backstage. Some of them were literally crying as they were panting in the backstage. This was yup in the 2011-2012 period.

This is called STUPIDITY, not professionalism.

There's nothing admirable about this. One should always take care of their health as number one priority, as well as the fact that people love you and don't want you to suffer irreversible damage or even something worse.

It also doesn't set a good example for those who follow you.

No.

Hmmm i think it's more about Japan's workaholic mentality and the whole death by overworked thing. You're just expected to do your jobs.

Anyway the issue here wasn't overworked either but ventilation with the dome bc it didn't have AC being open aired while performing in the summer so couple other girls also got heatstroke.

With Acchan, there's a pressure to do it since it was the 1st time the song was performed iirc and they can't put anyone in her position bc it was the election song where she got voted in

Yeah I think its more the overwork culture

Hey they just voted in a "legal to overwork someone up to 100 hours per month overtime". That means, roughly, you can force your workers to do 65 hour weeks (so that's 13 hours each day, Monday through Friday), and still be comfortably within the limit.

That's not including the fact that even if a company is convicted of death by overwork they'd be fined a measly couple thousand bucks 0u0plz.png 0u0plz.png 0u0plz.png

This is not a region of the world that is known for their kindly treatment of workers
