Oliver

Recommended Posts

It seems like Cube is going all out this year!

Cube/ACube/Cube DC

Rain - Full Album (January 6th)

Roh Jihoon - Single (February 4th)

BtoB - Mini Album (February 17th)

4Minute - Mini Album (March 17th)

APink - Mini Album (March 31st)

and now G.NA is having her comeback soon and B2st will have their comeback in May as well!

We've all been focusing on how the Big 3 have been doing for the past 4 months! but never Cube! What do you guys think?

Edit ~~ Changing the title since none of you realized that its a QUESTION!!! and not a statement :)

well everyone on that list is a has-been or never-been lol

try harder

What do you mean try harder.. I'm not really that into Cube anyways.. I was just curious as to what others think about the fact that its been 4 months and almost all their artists would have had a comeback.

rain? i would say his last album flop

roh ji hoon- it has been a long time since i last saw him on stage :._.:

btob- their last release was good and they even get nominated as 1st winner but they are still far behind other 2012 boy groups like vixx, exo, bap

4minute- WYN brought them back to top tier but as expected from crappy management, whatcha doing bring them down from that top spot. and their physical sales worried me a lot. seem like they sell less and less with each comeback. the fact that even girls days sold more than them :._.:  no more BB for their next comeback. cube i beg you

apink- slowing rising. keep improving in both physical and digital sales but they are not in top 5 yet

b2st-  wait for their upcoming release

so far rising to the top?? i am not soo sure :donthinkso:

Cube has been releasing a lot of music every year since 2011 (more than JYPE and YG at least) with secial projects, duets, etc. outside of the usual comebacks. Problem is that they get a lot of misses. All of their 2014 releases are under-performing.

Rain - La Song didn't do that well digitally and the album sales were way below his past sales.

Roh Jihoon - had a bad debut and hasn't gone up in popularity since.

BtoB - their popularity hasn't grown much since debut.

4Minute - 2014 song is doing much worse than WYN

APink - Mr. Chu is not doing as well as Nonono (It is also obvious that it won't have much longevity)

G.Na's popularity has gone down since B&W. She hasn't had a digital hit since.

B2st's popularity has gone down, because they are selling fewer albums and doing much worse digitally.

What? Despite the release of a full album by AKMU which ruled the whole GAON and Melon, Mr.Chu managed to stay on top3 on Melon on its 3rd week and top10 on GAON with high downloads, its charting it's almost similar as NoNoNo + they are doing good overall. It's CUBE/ACube most successful 2014 comeback so far

Btw I don't think CUBE will reach the BIG3 status, they can't even keep a little bit of momentum for their artists lol

This

Apink is the most successful comeback from CUBE (if ACUBE included) this year, and they are actually improving in physical sales and doing on par digitally at the moment

Mr.Chu seems not to do as well as NoNoNo because of the stronger competition compared to last year

Lots of strong releases from digital monsters and veteran ballad singers,I think it is amazing that Mr.Chu manages to get back to top 3 after ArMu sweeping the charts

I would say they were also one of top 2 most successful last year, depends on how people rate the comeback from Beast

But Apink doing well sure isn't enough, when the girl group from the sub label which is running independently is about the only act going forward,it says a lot about how bad CUBE is doing given how many artists they have

Just pray that ACUBE don't ruin their potential

I don't want to seem delusional, but tbh Apink is the only successful one from Cube/Acube this year. Even I was expecting Mr. Chu to be just plowed down by AkMu and EXO on the charts but they are still at #3 on their 3rd week. They've won 4 or 5 music shows which is great for a rising group, and even if their YT views are only 2,000,000 I feel like it will get higher and higher but slowly just like NoNoNo.

Just my 2 cents.

Really? Apink? Not doing well?

I doubt that.

They are still in number 3 in melon though.

They are still charting in different charts.

Well, those comebacks were mediocre at best. From Cube/Acube/CubeDC artists that came back so far, in terms of success I would say (this is just my opinion)

Apink>Rain>Btob/4minute>>>>>>>>>>>Roh Jihoon

I hope Gna's single is good. We'll see what Beast has in store for their next come back. They're returning with a new image - I wonder what that is. They will also be releasing a japanese single album on May 28 with a jrock song.

What I'm expecting of Cube after Beast comeback is:

-Hyuna's solo

-Yoseob's solo

-2nd 4minute comeback

-2nd BTOB comeback

I didn't say it's not doing well, but that it is under-performing (worse than expected), but yes, undoubtedly Cube's most successful 2014 release. It is not as catchy as nonono and fewer non-Apink fans like it, so I predict it will not have as much longevity as nonono.

I said Mr. Chu is not doing "as well" as expected, not that they are not doing well at all. Nonono was liked by a lot of non-Apink fans, but Mr. Chu not so much. That's why my "prediction" is that it won't have as much longevity. I could be wrong of course, but still, Mr. Chu is not helping them to move up a tier like nonono did.

I agree it isn't so catchy as NoNoNo but I don't think it is underperfoming on charts. I've pointed out it is still in Melon top3 after 3 weeks despite AKMU/IU releases, but anything can happen tbh. Maybe it's because I expected them to fall out the top10 after the first week, so to me they are doing great with this competition haha

The true test of longevity always come after promotion ends.

Rain - La Song didn't do that well digitally and the album sales were way below his past sales.

I'd actually heard that his album sales were comparable to his last album, Back to the Basic (2010).  Hanteo sales thread says 32k for Rain Effect and 35k for Back to the Basic.  True, one's a mini and the other's a full, but I doubt anyone expected him to have more fans post-enlistment/scandals than before, so it's not like he underperformed.

The topic/OP seems like it might have changed since ppl started replying... if it was about whether Cube was going to improve its status as a company, sure, seems irrelevant, but if it's about whether they seem to be a company that's trying to do decently by their entire roster, I guess so, even if ppl say the promo for each seems lacking.  I'm not sure how true that is given that not all their artists have that much hype; if ppl aren't aware of a comeback it doesn't necessarily mean Cube didn't put in the reasonable amount of effort, it could just mean no one bothered to signal boost a comeback they didn't care about.  For a company with as many groups as they have, it could be way worse.

It can always be worse. IMO Cube expanded too fast. I think that 4minute and B2st both used to have better promotions back in 2009-2011. The more artists they debuted, the worse their promotion and releases became overall. They are really stretching their resources I think.

Another thing about Cube is that they are just not good at figuring out what the public wants and also what the fans want. That's why their artists (with the exception of A-pink and maybe Huh Gak) have rather vague image and are constantly changing music. They don't have a distinct sound or image like SM/YG/JYPE artists and music do. The company lacks a unique identity.
