Why I think, 90's western male groups > K-POP boy groups

And when I am saying "Western" no I don't mean those culture vultures named, Backstreet Boys, New Kids On The Block, 1D or 'NSYNC so chill the fuck out.

But RnB male groups from the late 80's to 90's like, New Edition, Jodeci, Boys II Men and Shai.

They were so raw, organic and talented compared to the white manufactured "Boy groups" of that time that had the general publics attention.

Most of them had talent from the start and didn't have to be trained for 5 years + to gain skills in singing or dancing

They had more genuine individuality between the members too, Which most K-pop groups don't have

Groups like, TVXQ (OT5) SHINee, F(X), RED VELVET, Winner, 2NE1 (RIP), Blackpink, Mamamoo and BIGBANG (Groups that I enjoy) are the only ones with that, And that's why they got fans in all age groups.

In my opinion the only reason why K-Pop's international fans base has survived for so long is because there aren't that many BIG or new western groups ATM.

I am waiting for a second coming of Jodeci/New Edition or Destiny's Child/TLC to pop up. The apparent attention that the "The New Edition Story" and the TLC Biopic and actors cast got from teens and young adults, tells me that many people are waiting as well. Once, new groups come out and pick up steam, it's going to be a wrap for some kpop international fandoms.

Sorry to say, But K-POP is definitely declining since the whole 2016-2017 fiasco with so many legendary groups disbanding.

Your first sentence throws me off

For what?

I don't think you can compare those groups with K-pop groups

They don't have much talent anyways

While I agree with your opinion on groups like Boys II Men, I don't think kpop fans will switch sides. Kpop has actually more international fans than before and super young ones so if older fans leave, you won't feel a huge difference. Plus kpop fans like korean content the most that's why they stan kpop groups.

I think most of them like Kpop groups because they are different from the western groups

Like they dance, While most groups (western) nowadays just sing (basically vocal groups)

But K-pop sometimes feels too fake to me nowadays

Look, the pretentious music attitude doesn't work when you cite TLC.

I love them and they're fucking icons but they basically followed the same path as most idol groups (including being put together by a producer with a specific theme in mind and switching out original members before debut). Even their nicknames were manufactured as fuck to keep their name accurate after switching out a member.

Also no Western group trains like idols do. It's usually the opposite. KPOP signs you as a trainee and you're eventually given a group. Western groups tend to form a group and hope to get signed on by a company as part of said group.

1D isn't 90s.

uh because in the US (can we stop using the word "western" when you mean American because the West is not only the US) most bands are formed by friends?? It's much easier to be close with your band/group members if you were initially friends than if you and your group members were just randomly thrown together.
