Is EXID still considered a top girl group?

They lucked out with the viral video and made the most of it as a trendy group - but as with most trends, it's kind of old news. They are not top tier but due to the name recognition they were able to build they are top 10 for sure even if their sales are declining.

They do decline a bit but same thing happened to all the mid-old age GG.

Most of their peer groups complete dropped out of the map or disbanded.

We only have like 3 or 4 girl groups left.

But their current comeback did pretty well digitally tho consider how small their fandom is, i think most of korean general public dig their music style and hook songs. As long as they keep releasing good music and do good on variety shows, they will have long lasting career not as trendy idol groups but a musically talented/funny gg.

Think about BEG, do people ever consider them the top tier GG or "next national GG"?? Nope!

Do people consider them the "PAK here and there + XXX million MV views trendy GG"? Nope

But do people consider them a legendary GG that always bring the quality self-compose music with best stage performance and charm? YES!!

Best and most talented rapper (as Miryo and LE), best vocal (as JeA and Solji) and sexy icon (Gain and Hani) +  a bit dgaf carefree variety persona with good vocal (Narsha and Hyelin) and add JeongHwa's dance and visual as extra bonus!

EXID were/are/will never be top tier idol girl group but they are the next Brown Eye Girls who could have long lasting career with top of the top discography.

they were never a top tier girl group. they were about to disband when they hit viral and after up & down all of their singles have been pretty successful. id say they are pretty high up there in girl groups who are still actively promoting though. it is still a major (and lucky) improvement from where they were looking to part ways in late 2014.

They're on the decline, but all their peers are on the decline as well, it's just the nature of the industry and considering they're one of the last few standing strong, I'd say they're doing pretty well. They'll never capture the magic of Up and Down (or Ah Yeah and Hot Pink) again but things have recently taken a turn for the better with DDD.

They're still one of the first that come to mind when you think of really exceptionally talented groups, especially among girl groups, and the creative control they have over their music along with a loyal fanbase and individual popularity kind of ensure them longevity, at least more so than other groups.
