Since I'm a "French speaker" it's a bit strange to me, Couldn't they name her Eve or something more feminine? But does it really matter that they decided to call her Yves instead of it's feminine forms? In the OP it sounds like you're trying to state that she shouldn't be called Yves just because it's a masculine name and because it's mostly given to males.
