The Passing of J.G's Sister Led to his Withdrawal from Cross Gene + Performance with Taiwanese Legend

For those who knew Cross Gene/were into K-Pop back in 2012 would know that Cross Gene's original maknae and power vocalist, J.G (Gao Jianing é«˜å®¶å®) left the group only 6 months after their debut in January of 2013 due to personal issues which Amuse did not elaborate on at the time.

 

J.G recently came back to the music scene as he auditioned on China's The Voice in 2015 (his then Korean girlfriend he was been dating since predebut was on there with him--they recently seemed to have broken up).

 

J.G is now signed to a label and he was on a Chinese talent show "Idea Show" (ä¸å‡¡çš„改å˜) and performed. His audition on the show moved all of the judges (as expected from a vocalist of his caliber). He was later picked through judges and audience voting to perform alongside Taiwanese legend Lo Tayu.

 

He said that when he was 17 the red shirt he was wearing on the audition was given to him by his late older sister.

I'm just glad even through all his hardships he was able to pick himself with the support of his parents. T-T Fighting our Gao Jia!

 

It's funny because he didn't change his agency or background from Cross Gene until recently on his Weibo even though he did update his Weibo every now and then. Not surprised though since even though he joined Cross Gene only a few months before their debut, he and Casper quickly became close. They still follow each other on Insta as well. I hope to see them interact in the future.

Indeed... a power vocal like that isn't heard just every day in the K-Pop world. But I agree, he has his own path to follow, and it's always been singing that's been the priority for him. Unlike the rest of Cross Gene he's not an actor, isn't really acrobatically trained, but he gives every ounce of that love to singing. I want him to gain even more support, I'm sure he will if he persists.
