coconut water 2,135
For me, it depends heavily on the genre you're reviewing. What is typical of that genre? Is what the artist doing different or something commonly heard in its niche? It's also important to look at the past discography of an artist. Is the album you're reviewing different from their usual style? The same? An improvement? It's good to note these things and judge how they're progressing as artists. I think the feeling/vibe of a song or album is also important to note. What emotions does it elicit from you? If you're reviewing a ballad driven album and it has a gloomy vibe to it, note that; some people like to listen to upbeat music, this will let people know whether it's an album worth their time and vice versa. People often read reviews because they a.) listened to the album and want to know what other people thought about or b.) they haven't listened yet and want to find out from others if it's something they would want to hear. So it's important to cover a wide range of aspects in order to put out a really solid, well-rounded review.

Pirine 4,209
I judge an album on cohesiveness, concept, and style. If I generally like most of the songs as well but thats a little more subjective.

kish 2,929
simple. If it makes me push that plus button to add that song to my library, then it's a good album
anxiety 5,043
thank you for this stupid question but how exactly do you judge the production? The instrumentation, ask yourself how well do these instruments blend and are they being used appropriately, studio effects (distortion, compression etc.) You could also look into mixing and mastering but you need special training to be able to hear it.
