Am I a mean person for avoiding the K-pop fans at my school?

Ok. Huge fan of EXO here, also OBSESSED (in a poisitive way they make me happy) with Sica and Lulu and I would love to have friends IRL who are also K-pop fans

I have TWO friends IRL who are K-pop fans, one is a guy and GG stan + EXO-L <3 and the other one is a ARMY and I hang out with them bc they're normal

There are K-pop fans in my school but I don't hang out w/ them or talk to them because they're weird. They're the K-pop fan stereotype to a t. The type that wear hoddies of their faves with sweatpants on a Monday

And If its a girl then she always with her hair in a ponytail with ugly messy bangs.

They're annoying with their learning korean and discussing Korea politics and culture and honestly I find them embarassing.

It hurts me to act like I don't know who tf EXO is bc I'm embarassed. I dont wanna be categorised with those people

And may I just add that they are almost ALL Armies? So even if I talk to them, we really have nothing in common to chat about

I barely talk about K-pop irl, so I wouldn't want to be around people who talk about it a bunch anyways

There have been some K-pop obsessed fans at my school who will say "oppa", "unnie", "omo", "chingu" on a daily though(and it's kind of annoying, but w/e)

I'm not really like that except the pants (because I fricking love pants) and hoodies (and I have one LOONA hoodie I wear because it's huge and I like huge hoodies) Why do I have the feeling that even being "normal" you would avoid me? XD

That's what op looks like.

Anyway, just ignore them if you don't like them and that's all.

Yeah I do, but for instance once some girls in my class were playing Beautiful which is a bop so I was like “hey that’s a cool song, I like it too†and they just gave me a side eye like bitch wtf I’m trying to be nice here.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it tbh. I have so many Koreaboos at my school. A lot of them hate gg's and slut shame them 24/7, they say really disgusting and offensive stuff about them, so I don't bother talking to them. Most of them either hate Twice and love BP or vice versa. There are a lot of Armys at my school but most of them are only akgaes. I only stand for ot7, I don't care for akgaes. I've met one Kpop stan who is actually super nice. Maybe that's because she's just a nice person in general tho...

I don't really understand the clothing thing though...

Would you avoid someone for wearing a taylor swift shirt or of other western artists?

It's just an article of clothing isn't it?

I don't own any kpop based clothing so I'm not just defending myself

i avoid telling any of my friends like seriously only 2 people at my university know that i listen to kpop and that happened by accident too (but theyre cool enough not to talk about it) it's just like a personal interest and a lot of kpop stans act like stanning kpop is a lifestyle. i just wanna enjoy it peacefully, away from all the kboos so i totally understand you.

tbh I never mention Kpop to anyone outside of my fam irl (my little sister is a casual listener) I met one girl who likes kpop at my school but she is a bit over the top with it. she is really nice though so idk I guess it really matters on the person

I have 2 close friends who are into kpop but not full blown out kboos. We're all into it and we like talking about it and try relating it to our friends, like telling them stupid drama and stuff. but besides them everyone is like obsessed armys with all the merch and " I want to move to korea uwu"
