2000s: it was obviously op-naruto-bleach (all shounen jump titles)

2010s: op-snk-kingdom/tokyo ghoul

all time: op-dragon ball-naruto

this seems like the most likely answer tbh

Except maybe replace Naruto with Conan or Astro Boy but I guess Naruto is still bigger

actually now that you mention it conan has amazing longevity (naruto wishes) and it's definitely a bigger franchise than naruto but i still think naruto's manga was bigger

Yeah, I agree. I think OP and DB are by far the biggest but Naruto is probably bigger than the rest.

Dragon Ball & One Piece are the all-time kings of shonen manga.

But since DBZ ended the Big 3 were:

One Piece

Naruto

Bleach (tanked in popularity near the end)

note: I'm only considering Weekly Shonen Jump Titles, didn't include Shingeki no Kyojin (which is probably 2nd in popularity after One Piece during 2010s till now)

after Naruto and Bleach ended I believe its

One Piece (BY A HUGE MARGIN)

Boku no Hero Academia

Black Clover (not sure about this tho)

If you're gonna ask me who is the real king of all shonen mangas:

H U N T E R X H U N T E R still popular despite ridiculous hiatus, imagine if it didn't go hiatus at all, it might be on One Piece level imo

90s: Dragonball, YuYu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin

2000s: One Piece, Naruto, Bleach (no doubt about it)

2010s: One Piece, Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul? or BnHA?

Edit: HXH is always on a league of its own, lmfao. Still selling a million copies despite all the awful hiatuses.

For the longest time it simply referred to Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece. I never thought it was an opinion thing - just a matter-of-fact thing that those three were the most popular. Idk what the current Big 3 would be but I guess they're all from Jump by default?

Most accurate listing.

But I think these days the 'Big 3' term doesn't really apply anymore because manga/anime reaches a wider international audience. It used to only be coined the 'Big Three' because what used to be available to us over the internet was limited. Both official and unofficial translators were selective in what was translated years ago and everyone talked about the same manga/anime because there was less options to choose from. Also, I feel like after Bleach took a nose-dive in popularity running towards the end of the manga and with Naruto finishing, there has not been another manga to replace them. Instead, there a lot of new manga popping up and disappearing soon after, none of which have had mainstay popularity of the likes of Naruto and Bleach. The new manga being new and not lasting long, plus everything else apart from One Piece are all equally popular with none dominating over the other, is probably why nothing seems to be hitting big or big enough to be termed the 'Big Three'. This is probably why even after many years, when people are asked what are the 'Big Three', the usual response is One Piece, Naruto and Bleach, even though there have been break out hits such as Attack On Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, One Punch Man etc.

Here is a table of the top-selling manga from 2017 in Japan: Top-Selling Manga in Japan by Series: 2017 - News - Anime News Network:AU

Apart from One Piece, everything else is selling within close proximity to each other and apart from One Piece this ranking changes A LOT every year (and it usually depends on which manga gets an anime adaptation or new anime season, what's hot and what's not that year). Kingdom is probably the only exception on this list in which the manga getting popular is not related to its terrible anime adaptation.

A table showing the top-selling manga in Japan in the first half of 2018: Top-Selling Manga in Japan by Series: 2018 (First Half) - News - Anime News Network:AU

Note: One Piece manga looks like it's not selling well and really close to the others, but in reality One Piece manga had A LOT of breaks this year and it has only released ONE VOLUME so far compared to say Attack On Titan which has released two volumes within the same time period. One Piece still outselling the rest even with one volume out this year.
