Arts/Humanities majors: what's the most annoying question you've gotten about your major?

For example, I'm an English major with a focus in creative writing, along with a minor in Theater Performance, and a question I get alllllll the timee is "So, uh..what do you plan on doing with that, exactly?"  Or "Oh, so do you plan on teaching?"  Sometimes even, "Yikes, might want to get more than one day job."

It seems in my area that if you're not a STEM major, you are seen as an impending leech on government support or something.  Very annoying.

What are some questions you guys have been asked?

I'm a classics major (Latin and Ancient Greek)

"Oh, so you wanna be a priest?"

"What do you wanna do when you're done studying?"

"Oh, so it's a lot about mythology and stuff"

The answers to those questions are "No", "I don't know" and "No".

LMAO @ the priest question

classics sounds like a really interesting major though, i love studying languages (obviously English but I was obsessed with Greek at one point too)

I'm currently studying English philology on university which has few specializations - the only one which got me interested is translation which, unfortunately, had limited spots and required us to pass a special exam. And since I failed, I decided to pick academic specialization without any additional classes. After that, a lot of people asked me why won't I pick teaching/become a teacher after I'm done. No, I don't want to be a teacher, I don't have a good personality for that and memories from middle school made me hate that place.

I want to work in visual development and VFX for films and other media, and someone asked me if I really wanted to work in the entertainment business in light of the Weinstein scandals... It wasn't totally annoying but it was the weirdest question I've ever gotten about my major/career endgame.
