I love it!

But the instrumental is stronger than his voice~

Reminds me a bit of SECOND's CHAOS, which the instrumental is so amazing you can listten to it without the vocals with no problems~

Maybe the rest of the single will have something more!

Like the collab with ELLY, and HELLO.... anyway~the boy has my money already xD I am Nidaime generation, so I am to biased to let it pass =xxxx

SHOKICHI.....Take my money, my panties, my kidneys, my lungs, my heart; I want all your singles! :ahmagah: :ahmagah:

Best comment ever XD

I don't know, I like the preview so far. I'm liking the fact that the instrumental is louder than Shokichi's voice; Sho has a very strong voice, and the fact that this song was mixed this way suits his voice very well. Good god his voice is amazing - this song I think highlights what I like a lot about his voice; the almost rock-ish, rough quality to his voice.

The weak thing about this preview so far imo is the chorus. A stronger chorus would be great, but then again, this is not even the full song yet. The song might end on a stronger note. Regardless he has my money =P

EDIT: I have listened to the preview multiple times and I can't believe I did not mention this before - I love the beats in this song!

I agree! I really love it too :D I try not to be biased but this song, his voice, the beat is really appealing to me xx

Sigh...looks like I'll be buying more stuff Dx lol

I often applaud Shokichi & Nesmith for being the best male vocal combination, but Shokichi alone just does not do it for me. When it comes to the pawning upbeat tracks he doesn't have the edge to pull it to new levels, and judging from The Second's latest album release, there will be more heavy beats in this release. This preview though, I cannot even take seriously.

I am now patiently waiting for a Nesmith solo...

I agree with you on some aspects (also Shokichi and Nesmith is my favourite vocal combination). What initially worries me about Shokichi going solo was that he, as a singer and songwriter/ composer is still not strong/ solid enough to hold his own ground, and I am saying this as a Shokichi fan. On some occasions when The Second was out promoting their singles/ album, Sho has had troubles singing as good as he did on record. Also, when it comes to composing music, some of the stuff he composes are songs with very simple song structures and chord progressions. With all this in mind, I was worried for his solo.

However, I don't want to judge him so quickly based on just one chorus. While this song so far may be weak in some aspects (I still think the chorus could have been stronger), I think this solo project of Shokichi is a chance, albeit a very risky chance, for Shokichi to grow as a singer and songwriter. With this chance he might improve faster than he could ever have if he was still in just The Second and EXILE (and let's be honest, EXILE doesn't give him many chances in terms of maturing as a singer-songwriter). Shokichi once stated that it was his dream, to one day, go solo, and to sing songs that are of his writing/ composition; so I for one, am very happy that he got the chance to do so.

There is nothing there that I cannot agree with. Shokichi is evidently determined to develop as an Artist, but the only thing that works against him in this solo project is that he has yet to find what defines him and makes him unique. He does experiment with sounds, but they tend to sound too familiar; the type of familiar that has been heard too many times by others and have worked well time and time again. It's can too safe. Composition is not adventurous. It's a very straight-forward formulaic process with him, so I do not view him as an Artist by definition, yet.

These are the reasons why I am not optimistic about this project. As for opinions on the preview, I cannot take it seriously as there is not enough to even form an opinion on, which defeats the purpose of even releasing a preview.

We have the same worry. I think now we can only wait until the single gets released - then we can see whether he has taken a more adventurous approach to his songwriting, or is still using his same 'formula'. A solid singer-songwriter who can stand on his own ground does not develop overnight though - so for Shokichi it might take a good few singles for him to fully develop his own sound and maturity in composing. Fan support can only go so far - if Shokichi wants to be taken seriously as a singer-songwriter he needs to show results. But I think Shokichi knows this best.

Jeez, I am quite worried about him actually. Why oh why is he my favourite EXILE member.

... because he puts much effort in creating a cool image only to have it destroyed with seconds by being his adorable self? That tends to be case for 92% of his fans...

Let us both give the upcoming release a chance. I'll be interested in knowing your opinions when it drops.

The best, and most accurate opinion on Shokichi I've ever read. I think he puts way too much effort in wanting to appear cool, it is almost laughable at times XD

But seriously, that forms, like almost half of the reason I like him. The other half would be his voice + obvious passion for music + the fact that he can compose (even though his compositions are still relatively immature, but I have a soft spot for singer-songwriters).

Cool, we can have a discussion when the single drops.

Updated the first post with the preview of THE ANTHEM featuring DOBERMAN INC, SWAY and ELLY (3JSB)

Also tracklist + HELLO TV rip since it's been confirmed to be included in the single (the song was used as a theme song for a documentary show about Chikako Ono, a girl who was born blind and competed in London's 2012 summer Paralympic)

Edit: lmao didn't see Danseryu's post. Epic fail OTL
