He has always been one of my fave idols. I adored his toothy dino smile, and serious expression when about to perform. I admired his drive to make it as a composer and gain respect from the quality of his work, not his name or company only. I loved his music. But, more than that, I respected him and liked him as a fellow youth in this world. Even as a man (when feminists who're our age are facing a big backlash by men who object to their proclivities and privileges being pointed out and resist any dismantling of that advantage) he has shown the rare intent to be an ally - and has kept diligently working at honouring that proclamation. If his speech was called out, he had welcomed discussion and accepted and corrected his wrongs. He had tried to understand and listened. I liked that he didn't try to put down people or delight in hurting anyone. I thank him for showing it is possible to live with grace and dignity even under immense pressure. I applaud him for his courage for enduring the pain for as long he did. I hope that we don't just dwell on the way of his passing, but also celebrate the luminous presence of his memory we'll always have in our hearts. I spent a lot of my allowance just to buy them Christmas gifts because their mom's gone now and they have no one to give them that kind of care. You know the kind where your mom fusses over your clothes your diet your extra needs. My nephew hasnt had new clothes in ages so after we went shopping he was so so happy, he rarely shows emotion but he kept thanking me and saying he'll buy me a gift someday. Just that thank you and the fact that he sought me out so enthusiastically made me so so happy.
