Why would you need/want the Bashing Thread back?

We've had threads that have pointed out the BT's wrongs. But do you think there are/were any advantages to it?

Personally: It was a depot of Fake News. Had posters who would fit into r/redpill. And, felt like a forum version of 'The Purge' - like, everyone gets away with every crime in that place, because supposedly on every other thread it will be sunshine and puppies...suffice to say, the evidence says otherwise.

Some people pretending it was a place of only “constructive criticism†are revisionist lmao. There’s nothing “constructive†about calling blackpink or twice sluts or spreading horrible misinformation about bts that then gets ss and posted on twitter and rtd thousands of times or coming at Taehyung for mourning his grandmother or calling kai a cripple etc.

 

I think a stand your ground type thread would be perfect but it’d still have to be heavily moderated.

don't need the BT back but it did have it's advantages and i don't like how people are using recent events to justify it not coming back. people need to realize its always had it's vitriolic posts.

i think deleting the BT will have the same effect as deleting the RAUT. people will complain about it but if mods actually deliver enforce the new rules then you actually see less of it on this site. people really don't call out users here anymore unless it's in-thread or via PM. or of they do it's on another, less-known site. same thing will happen with bashing on here. if people really feel it's relevant, it will still happen but it won't be on the same level of not being able to defend.

anything i said in the BT i'll say on the main forum and im sure anyone else who actually feels conviction in the statements they made in there would say the same.

Idk yet, I need to see how people really start to act now that it's gone. I feel like since a lot of people are still sensitive because of recent happenings, trolling threads have died down. If when people have finished healing and the forum has returned to it's normal self, and I see more trolls will be running around than when the BT was around, then I'll be able to judge whether or not I think removing the BT was good or bad. 

 

But for now I don't mind it being gone

Unpopular thread is not supposed to be negative, an unpopular opinion can be positive.

and lastly want it back just because i do.

 

after a point, honest hate is better than fake love and fake appreciation. it is suffocating and dangerous.

 

there is variety of stuff in the world and BT can exist in that variety too.

I fully support its return and I hope the mods raise a discussion about it when sufficient time has passed from recent events. It was not right how people decided to raise the topic on the day of Jonghyun’s death. It was a disrespectful since his passing was more than just something to push your agenda.

this too. im of the unpopular opinion that "wee woo" and "we like" are good songs and i don't think these belong in the same thread as people who think pristin can't compose for shit. while bashing can go in the UO thread, telling people to just regulate everything there seems off considering a lot of what's said in the BT is/feeds into popular opinion, which is /why/ the thread can become an upvote mine.

hold on a goddamn minute now, there needs to be some clarifications made here...

 

First of all, Honesty and Vitriol are two different entities, The Bashing thread is vitriolic in nature and is ultimately unnecessary and destructive.  Honesty, while it may not be received well at first is constructive in nature and is necessary.

 

Second, Honesty and vitriol do not equate to truth, it's just an honest opinion or vitriolic opinion.

 

This is why the Bashing Thread went to shit, this is why I don't want it to exist, especially if I can't defend against the slander.

 

Personally I think the "Unpopular Opinions Thread" is sufficient enough. If you are a born hater, perhaps a personal diary or burn book is better suited for you, that way you can keep your vitriol to yourself if it's that important to you.

I guess there should be an opinion thread where defending isn't allowed. Tho it had its ups and downs.... There were many times where I wanted to correct someone for spreading lies... But I couldn't cause it was in the rules. I don't want a bashing thread but a opinion thread without defending and fan wars.

 

Also mods NEED to supervise it closely. There's no reason why any idol needs to be call a slut /pig ect... It's just wrong and disgusting.

besides, for those who are against it, a BT keeps negativity limited to one thread only. it controls it to a great extent.
