shinee's lucifer was one of the first kpop songs i ever listened to. and while it didn't bring me into the genre, i've always had a soft spot for it. i remember being super impressed with jonghyun's voice the very first time i heard it. i was never a massive fan, but my respect for shinee is great. they've always produced good music that brightened my life. 

 

it's always hard to find out that someone who played such a role in lifting your spirits has passed away due to the same demons that brought your spirits down in the first place. it's a realization that these people who create art to make the world happy aren't invincible, and it's such a tough thing to accept. goodness and happiness should be invincible. 

 

the world needs to destigmatize mental illness, these things are real and they're deadly. 

 

my heart goes out to jonghyun's family, friends and his fans. onehallyu, please stay safe today. please take care of yourselves. those of you who suffer from similar demons, please get help please. please don't let those evil thoughts take your life. 

 

RIP jonghyun, you were and will continue to be a light in this dark world for so many people. rest assured knowing that you have touched so many lives and been a beacon of hope to many.
