what do you mean "worldwide"? in the west sure, far ahead of other groups. But in other parts of the world Bigbang, EXO, TVXQ, even SJ in SEA are comparable. World is a huge place and kpop is not only 1 group, with so many popular boygroups it's imo impossible to determine the one and only "most popular worldwide".

It used to be bigbang, now they supposedly go to the military. Enjoy while it last I guess, all those fanwars, good luck

 

Tbh maybe bts can release an album in usa and just earn all those dollars, the market is incomparable to sk, if they can make a hit like despacito or gs, a foreign language boom in there, then their position will be unquestionable.

Dbsk and BB, or maybe roora is famous in their era, considering youtube and social media influence wasn't used this much at that time.

 

I can't talk about dbsk era cause I'm not there, but in bigbang case they got newspaper, radio, collaboration, yt views that considerably more than their fellow idols. They scored 300m views for fantastic baby in 2012,imagine if they release it rn. So yeah, you just can't compare this stuff unless you're an acclaimed 1st place like psy. Technologies grow faster than you can imagine.

You seem so pressed 

why all this negativity?  so what are BTS supposed to do? to find a time machine and go back in time to compete with your faves or what? 

do you know that korea no longer cares about idols as they used to be? Do you know that back then big3 privilege was not established like it is nowadays? Do you know that kpop was no saturated back then like how it is today?

Social media and Youtube? Then why aren't we  seeing current acts getting popular because of  sns only? Why don't yg push his acts to establish fanbases using sns and fan service then ?

You may find a popular group  on sns but if their music or personalities are shit, they won't go so far. Bear this in mind.

so Kudos to BTS to achieve all this by themselves  and with their own means. They used their own money to film varieties while no show out there used to ;pay attention to them. Even with all their success, they still provide an abundance of free content to fans 

Just congratulate them and move on and stop living in the past

If people are already making threads like this,I can't imagine what they would do when bts stays relevant as long as 10 years like BB.BTW I really must have had a bad geography teacher beacuse i keep wondering why everyone on OH keeps equating America to the whole world while I was taught that Asia is the largest continent in the world.

Hah, at this point, people would be delulu to deny this. Come on, the facts are staring at all of us right in the face ..popular in South Korea (broke year old records etc), in Asia (broke even DBSK's records), and in other parts of the world. Name me another group who has charted and made records in almost all the top music markets in the world at the same time hurrplz.png For all the abuse that armys have taken from other fans for being "beggars" online, this is such sweet revenge. Knowing that the push has only benefited the group.

 

*oh and it's so cute that nowadays you often see "highest, fastest, first, most etc" beside BTS' name. It seems that everyday there is some new achievement. That is some slayage!
