Because I keep thinking this is mostly how Mamamoo gained fans, by performing at every events they find in Korea so people would witness their amazing live. Remember when they were rookies and they had 4 events to attend at different locations on the same day? They used to have packed schedules. You know why they kept accepting invitations? Because they knew those were the only opportunities to let even a few people know that they exist, that they are amazing and they deserve to be noticed. They didn't have someone to media play for them or put them on TV shows to expose them nationwide. So while other groups are making headlines, Mamamoo were performing somewhere, gaining fans quietly, slowly but surely. This is why people have no idea they are popular. They wonder how Mamamoo got 100k+ members in their fancafe [...]. Why do a lot of people now stream Mamamoo and help their digitals? Because most of these people came from the hundred events and festivals Mamamoo attended, people who saw their stunning talents live, people who saw their happiness while performing and those who saw their sincerity on stage. And these people are now the fans who support Mamamoo because they want to see them perform more. They want them to have longevity. They want them to be successful for a long time, because from all they had witnessed with their own eyes, that is what Mamamoo deserve [...]" For a group that started from literally zero with no media-play backing power whatsoever to now become the girl group with the 3rd highest number of fancafe members of all time (behind only SNSD and A-pink), it's truly a feat no less amazing than miracles you find in fairytales, except this time there was no fairy godmother to grant wishes, and the Cinderellas had to fight for their own destiny and painstakingly collect a few more fans at a time over the course of years to reach that mind-bogglingly gigantic number of followers that they have now. Their rise was gradual but secure, a result of hard work and perseverance altogether. Even after they became a top girl group, they still attended up to 4 festivals a day. Why they rose is a combination of things: - Amazing, obvious talents - Consistent, open communication with fans - Tremendously talented team around them in RBW, giving Mamamoo the concepts and platforms that best suited their talents - Their approachable girl crush aura, which has given them the biggest female fandom of any girl group And the rise isn't over.
