They were originally planning to send EXO for overseas promotions.. If they followed their original plan and pushed them to Japan and China like Bigbang, but it could've also turned out badlyWe wouldn't have been able to see their faces in Korea again...And the fans would've inherit NCT's fandom..That was probably the plan they were dreaming happily about..But the reality...??EXO weren't sent overseas, but instead, they concentrated on promoting in KoreaAnd NCT's fandom just isn't sticking up together..Usually, SM fandoms inherit subsequent groups one after the other..But the new cafeteria menu already contains choices like Bangtan and Seventeen..And all the nunas have gone to Wanna One...SM must be super frustrated now..They probably expected NCT to sweep the award ceremonies,but instead, people were swearing at them asking "who are these nugus"My opinion is that they've never pushed NCT to the extent they pushed EXO.A group who's 7 years in their debut is still having 3 promotions in a year,and SM still doesn't have any thoughts about pushing their hoobaespost response: [+432][-198] original post: here ㅇㅇ I can agree for 50% of it, and I disagree with 50% of it. EXO have a lot of core fans in their fandom and even when they go to the army, it's unlikely that they leave the fandom. And if SM fandoms really inherit each other, then in 2014, when NCT used to appear more on broadcast than EXO on broadcast, the fandom would've shifted already, but instead, the fandom didn't accept NCT. It's not about inheriting, we need a new pie. EXO were always about singing abilities and NCT about hip hop concepts, they didn't overlap from the start ㅇㅇ NCT are quite talented, their issue is their concepts, it's too hit or miss ㅇㅇ I feel like NCT can't hit big as long as EXO will be the top... They should start pushing NCT when EXO starts to falter... I hope they stopped giving them those hard to pull off concepts and start giving them luxurious concepts like other male idols nowadays since they're all doing good.... The members are all talented to boot ㅇㅇ Isn't it because most of EXO fans are core fans? EXO fans aren't gonna go to NCT just because EXO doesn't promote much in Korea. Their concepts are totally different too. NCT not being popular doesn't have much to do with EXO. SM is barely pushing them where it matters, NO variety show appearances, NO good promotions that will attract new fans or the public's attention... They're relying too much on their fandom... Like you don't know if your bias will comeback since the members tend to change so it's probably hard for some fans to fully invest in them. If you want wide fandom, your music has to have wide appeal too. The boys are talented and likable as far as I see, I bet they would be way bigger if they were a stable group, without the confusing units system, if they had more public friendly songs and less over the top styling. People's music and aesthetic tastes don't change overnight to make them jump ships also about the fandom "inheritance" a lot of exo ls are also NCTzens... atleast the I Fans... its just that fans are too loyal to suddenly abandon EXO? And what is the need when you can like both groups at the same time. also... its partly because NCT concepts are not mainstream either.so yeah. co-ups 1,389 Posted December 15, 2017 Share Posted December 15, 2017 okay, don't hate me and understand me because i think companies see kpop only as business and groups as money makers. as much as elf were crazy over "nobosy will replace super junior" times change and super junior (and i'd also say tvxq) was falling behind FOR NEW FANS (mass). exo entered in a great moment, there was an important generation brake after them and if sm wanted for nct to be the new exo they should have waited. however, in super junior's generation, for example, you also have shinee that still iconic-level but not KINGS OF THEIR GENERATION level (they are kings and trend setters for their fans, i respect it and i'd quote big bang and tvxq as top at their times) and maybe nct can get there. it will be harder because not only you have big3 groups with great impact, but also many smaller company's groups. however, i can't predict future and i am not their fan so i don't know wat they are really doing and maybe tomorrow they can get super famous? who knows Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For the both the concept and pre debut scandal was already negatively impacting them even before they released their first song. Not to mentiom for NCT U and 127 the songs are not public friendly at all. Like Cherry Bomb was a lot of WTF so it will not help bring in new fans. Lets not forget Ten.
