i was stressing a bit since i had never gone to class but i was still confident in my intellectual abilities

i show up 5 min before the exam and the room was completely empty...

im waiting a bit confused

2 other students showed up a few min after so i relaxed

my prof. shows up 10 min after the exam was supposed to start, hands the 3 of us our essay questions and tells us "ok use whatever notes you have blah blah blah", and the 2 people whipped out their notebooks and began writing

I NEVER KNEW IT WAS AN OPEN NOTE EXAM, WHAT KIND OF FINAL IS OPEN NOTE

turns out he gave the essay questions ahead of time too so you had the option to just type it at home and bring it in anytime during the final

so while i was writing my essays, i watched people just casually walk in with their typed essays and leave

YIKES. that sounds frightening. howd it go?

i was able to write a decent amount for the 3 essay questions

the thing i'm worried about is the quality of my essay being compared with people who had access to the internet and the reading material

If i decide to skip a class, I make sure I make a friend and exchange contact information to tell me important things I missed. Thats too risky, I would always be nervous. Was it just you or was there anyone else? Thats really bad luck for you tho, I wonder if your professor knew it was because you skipped haha

don't you have student chat group or something

usually the prof. posts info on this online portal but he never did. i didn't know anyone who was taking the course either...

Ppl can skip uni classes???? Do they pass??? Im in my final year of high school uwu

depends on your school. my school is actually really strict with attendance but this prof. didn't care...hence why i took full advantage of that

there were 2 other students taking the exam but they already had the answers written out in their notes rlytearpls.png

You dont fail a class due to attendance?

this prof. didn't care at all, but my other classes do

Depends on your uni...mine has a set number of times you can be absent (proportional to how important the course is) and if you go over that limit, you cant take the final so you basically fail

I hope you managed to get a satisfactory grade. I highly doubt you failed.

I rarely missed class as an undergrad because attendance was paramount as it was taken into account for our overall course grade. Not only that, I personally hate relying on others for notes so I forced myself to attend classes even when I felt under the weather.

Thank God I'm done with university. laugh.png

Like everyone else said, it depends on your university. My university has classes where there are over 200 of us in one room. In those type of classes, I skip and still get an A because I can just study at home. However, smaller classes usually like to take attendance. It all depends on your professor, some are chill and dont care while others like it when students attend their classes so they make it mandatory. I skip because its about an 30-40 commute for me so if I dont find the class worth it, I dont go haha
