if jype didn't give twice comebacks at the end of the month AND on the same month as bts, this wouldn't have been a problem. i dont understand their obsession with making twice comeback in the last week of the month.

That's why people said that SNSD is the only GGs who can "compete and dominate" with BGs...

I'd like to see the "Produce 48's" GG... can they compete with BGs later??? If they're having AKB48's type fandom,, they might have a chance... but BTS is still growing,, it's gonna be hard..

In 2014, SNSD released Mr.Mr. on Feb 24th and topped the chart in March instead so releasing on the last week of the month doesn't really matter

"and on the same month as bts"

cheer up came out april 24th and bts came back in the first week of may

wings and twicecoaster came out in october.

not even snsd at their peak could compete with exo/bts's physical sales so my point still stands.

Album sales were different when SNSD were at their peak and they DID compete with the highest selling boy groups back then, see: The Boys topping the YEARLY chart in 2011 (the album was also released at the end of the year btw which makes it even more impressive).

These days albums always have 2-3 versions and repacks, etc. so everyone is still on the same playing field, Twice just can't compete with boy groups now the way SNSD could back then. It's the same exact scenario.

This is stupid, comparing album sales 7 years ago to album sales these days. SNSD outsold both TVXQ and Super Junior aka the album kings of their generation, with only 2 months to chart. They did not have a problem with that.

If BTS had debuted back then, they would not be able to sell 1 million. The highest back then was around 450k (SNSD The Boys). We are talking abot different generations here.

Be realistic.

South korea economic GDP growth increase almost 2x from 2011 to 2017 , increase inflation and also population increasing, kpop has become more global nowadays causing , more access to buy kpop album and more online store.

500k back then is equal to 1m today

The fact that BoA, 10 years into her career, after a 5 year hiatud could still do this amazes me.

She’s not from the digital era but here she is!

BoA is great but imo taeyeon is even greater, her career has been relevant longer than BoA ever was, you don't see BoA doing what taeyeon did in her 11th year on korean chart.

although that's possibly because taeyeon is a singer ,  while BoA is a performer , a singer has always been rated higher than performer
