Opinions on other groups doing LOONA’s concept?

I’d personally rather not have it happen again. Sure the concept of the “girl of the month†is cool and the songs are really good but it’s pretty obnoxious having to wait so long for a group to debut. I wouldn’t mind it as much if a smaller group did it or if member reveals were more often but overall I’d rather not have it happen again but that’s just me. Share your own thoughts below!

it's just like long teasers that take a eternity to end

it's not exactly a concept but a introduction

their concept is probably more related to the animals and moons each members has

i’d umbrella all of that under the entire concept of Loona but I’m just bringing up one specific part of it

The thing is the solo each month concept is a lot of money especially if you plan on giving them quality music, videos, etc. It works for Loona because their company has a lot of money and could afford it a company that isn't in the same predicament as Blockberry Creative they wouldn't think to do it.

what makes you say that?

The concept did make the wait for their debut longer but at least they provided us with amazing songs and MVs. It even made fans more excited to see the final lineup and how the girls will perform as a whole group. This girl of the month concept requires a very rich company like BBC. Also this concept will always be remembered as LOONA's concept so if any other group does it in the future people will say that they're copying LOONA.

people already call other k-pop groups copies of each other so it’s not like that’s anything new but people are acting like BBC is the only company that has enough money for what their doing when the same company can do the same thing (maybe with less members) but regardless of what people would say if another group tried to do the same concept I don’t think it’s impossible for another group to pull it off

tbh it kinda seems like a situation where continued or repeated situations will dilute the interesting aspect of "loona's concept"

think survival shows

that said, i think it's possible for a new group to debut with something similar but like others posted above they're going to need a lot of money to provide content that will keep fans interested and anticipating

im just glad that bbc let ppl/fans know that this was gonna be a long ass process

this is prob a reason y, even though loona fans r anxious for full reveal + full debut, they are still willing to wait it out because they know content comes of consistently and in good quality

i think it'd be cool to have bbc debut a brother group with a similar concept, maybe less or equal amount of members idk

but that's just me

Dunno. LOONA is the first kpop group to do this concept. To me no matter how many groups do it, LOONA will always be the queens of this girl of the month concept. Every member had a wonderful song and MV that were designed to fit her aura very well. It's not only about money but also how wonderful the producers and directors who were hired by BBC to make the concept work. BBC picked the best people for this project.

you speak to soon. The only reason why you’re saying that is because you don’t have anything to compare it to which is more than fair but just because something is first doesn’t mean it’ll always be the best

id be ok with it if there was a brother group I suppose... but that’s mostly because I’m interested to see what it would be like for the boys... I just don’t view male idols to be as flexible as female idols so I’d expect some fuckboi thirst trap shit for most of the songs tbh but that’s just my gg stan biased ass going off

Tbh when Heejin was released i didnt paid attention to them because i thought it would be too painful waiting for 18 fucking months to actually have the official line up for the group, but as the days passed i caught myself involved into this and now i can't see myself not hyping LOONA.

Us fans, are with like... a bittersweet feeling as the project approaches its end cuz we will FINALLY have the ot12 that some are waiting since october '16, in my case, april '17. But it also mean that we wont have the famous "who's next?" that make us all go crazy and plann on 1093439484398 theories almost every month.

Going back on topic, if a company is willing to risk like BBC did, and if the ppl are charismatic like my girls, then why not? totally would stan.

Maybe you're right. We don't have any group with a similar concept to compare them with LOONA. But when I imagine another group doing this concept with subgroups, colors and animals etc  it seems like a shameless rip off.

It will be very hard for any group in the future to surpass the quality of songs and MVs LOONA released. They have to adapt the concept to make it their own and not just a copy of something that has already been done before.

well I think they’d exclude the colors and animals aspect because that would be a shameless rip off

i'd really hope for flexible concepts and i think they would since each "boy of the month" doing the same fuckboi thirst trap shit wouldn't allow them to differentiate themselves enough if u get what i mean

plus i wouldn't bother with them if that was the only shit they released that would be fucking awful

i'd kill to see the brother group solo songs with a haseul let me in or kim lip eclipse vibe, jinsoul sitr also

anything but cute concepts since i hate those but that's me being a crazy fan

loool this was me from heejin --> vivi (minus haseul)

i'm kinda excited/worried for their debut because of line distribution and screen times with 12 members in a 3-4 minute song. exposure and company favouritism also creeps into my head

screen time might not be an issue if they decide to go with the cinematic mv mess that was w1 beautiful but that's only if it happens

idk, it would have to be really good and if bbc did it I think it would be so I’d have high expectations
