What is your makeup removal or night-time skin care routine?

Starry Skies

Recommended Posts

Since I have acne prone skin, I try to make sure that I completely remove my makeup at the end of the day before I go to bed. BUT... why does my routine take so longwarstarplz.png. By the time I'm done, I'm wide awake and have a hard time falling asleep.

So here is my routine

  • Remove the majority of my makeup w/ a micro fiber cloth
  • Cleansing oil
  • Regular face wash
  • Toner
  • moisturizer
  • eye cream
  • spot treat w/ tea tree oil

If I don't wear makeup, I usually skip the first step.

What is your night-time skin care routine? Is your routine consistent, or does it change depending on the day?

if I have make up, I just take it off with the wipes

and then I wash my face, put on this BP acne cream stuff, wait like 20 minutes and then wash that off and go to bed.

In the morning I just wash my face and put on this nice moisturizer I got from sephora

Mine doesn't really count as a routine lol I only do it if I remember (which isn't often)

I'm OTT with my skincare routine lmao

  • 1st cleanser: Banila Clean it Zero Purity
  • 2nd cleanser: COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser
  • pH Balancing Toner: Mizon Witch Hazel 90% Toner
  • Actives (I wait around 20mins between these two): Melano CC Vitamin C Serum & Mizon AHA 8% Peeling Serum
  • Hydrating Toner: Kikumasamune High Moist Lotion
  • Essence/Serum: Missha First Treatment Essence & Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum
  • Sheet Mask: Freeset Donkey Milk Healing Mask (THIS STUFF IS LITERALLY GOLD) or My Beauty Diary Black Pearl
  • Eye Cream: Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Eye Cream
  • Moisturizer: COSRX Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion (usually oil free stuff sucks but this is the most moisturizing stuff for my sahara desert ass skin)
  • Sleeping Pack: Laneige Water Sleeping Pack or COSRX Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask

My routine changes like every month because I'm indecisive but this is where it's at right now

I want flawless skin tooohdearplz.png. I usually find new products I'd like to try but I end up sticking to my current routine anyway. My skin has actually been kind of decent lately and I'm afraid that adding new products to my routine will make my skin freak out .

Now that's a dedicated routine! I don't have "sahara desert ass skin" (lol that made me laugh so much), but I like to use more sheet masks during the winter since my skin tends to get dry. Thanks for sharing the products you use. I think I'll have to check out those sheet masks. smile.png

Mine isn’t too complicated

- if i was wearing makeup then i use my oil cleanser to remove it first and then reg cleanser

- toner

- moisturizer

- then a sleeping pack at night before I go to sleep. this is vital for me cause it’s really cold at night where I’m from, so this helps keep my face moisturized while i sleep. i have dry skin ):

every couple days I’ll use a sheet mask(Mediheal and Innisfree are my most used brands) or a face mask from Lush or Skin Food

1) Remove makeup with cleansing balm

2) Wash face with super mild cleanser for sensitive skin

3) Apply a toner (when I feel like it, not always)

4) Apply eye cream

5) Apply moisturiser

That is all! If I'm not wearing any makeup, I just skip the first step. It's basically my morning routine as well, with a different moisturiser containing high SPF.

I recommend Coconut Oil. This is very useful to remove makeup even it also remove waterproof makeup. Coconut oil has three essential fatty acids and a low molecular weight that gives good penetration.

Mine is pretty simple. Used to do alot more but it ended up just irritating my skin because its so sensitive.

Usually its:

- Remove make up

- Cleanse (exfoliate twice a week)

- Moisturise

- Spot treatment

Sometimes I would use an extra cream on days when my eczema flares up.

When I come home I immediately take off my makeup instead of waiting right before bed. I have combination skin, with an oily T-zone, so the longer I have makeup on, the more oily my face gets and the more likely I am to break out.

1. Wipe top-most layer of makeup with Pamper's Perfume-free Sensitive Baby Wipes. I used to use Neutrogena Makeup Remover Towelettes but I noticed it would leave my skin mildly red/irritated, probably from the fragrance/alcohol. Plus, the baby wipes are waayy cheaper.

2. Deep cleanse Clarisonic with CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser for like 40-60 seconds, focusing on T-zone. But I ran out of CeraVe and noticed I still had a new tube of Biore Facial Cleansing Foam so been using that lately. No breakouts so far.

 * If I'm not wearing makeup, I just cleanse with The Face Shop White Seed Exfoliating Foam Cleanser. Rinse well with lukewarm water and pat dry.

3. I'll only do this step once a week: My Scheming Blackhead Acne Removal Activated Carbon Mask Set only on my nose area.

4. Tone with either Mamonde Rose Water Toner or Murad Hydrating Toner. I alternate between the two (although I notice the Murad one would sting more, probably from the witch hazel/fragrance so will be dropping that once I'm done with the bottle).

3226323.JPG61hZJ74PkmL._SY355_.jpg

5. Alternate days using The Ordinary Retinoid 2% Emulsion vs Lactic Acid 5% + HA. Let this dry.

original.jpg?1507391845

6. Occasionally use The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution if I feel like I'm going to have a breakout. Let dry.

7. CeraVe Eye Repair Cream. Still looking for a good eye cream that won't break the fucking bank so thinking about trying RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Eye Cream and The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG next.

8. Finish off with Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin or The Ordinary 100% Squalane oil when the weather's dry. I tend to break out when I use anything with mineral oil in it, so I avoid this ingredient like the plague. Oddly enough petroleum doesn't make me break out but it feels weird and greasy on my skin so I try to avoid that as much as I can too.

So far my skin is pretty clear and smooth except for small hyper-pigmentation from hormonal break out on my chin whenever my period is about to come (literally like 1 annoying pimple, every time), which I notice is more likely to occur if I leave my makeup on for long around that time frame. Also, make sure you moisturize immediately after showering. My skin tends to dry up like a mother after I shower so I try to use face sheets right after or at least apply some layer of moisture immediately.

Good luck with finding a routine that works for you!

1. Wash my face with Cetaphil

2. Put a warm compress on my eyes for 10 min (not related to skin, but I can only do it on a freshly washed face)

3. Put on my acne medication

4. Eye cream

5. Once in a while I put on moisturizer.

Sometimes I get lazy and just fall asleep without doing any of this hurrplz.png

  • 2 weeks later...

1. I use Bioré Oil Cleanser to remove my make up. Usually two pumps.

2. Then I use Nivea Make Up Wipes to remove the remaining make up. One wipe is enough.

3. After that, I use Cetaphil DermaControl Oil Foam Wash that serves as water based cleanser. Usually two pumps.

Then I use toner, moisturizer, and spot treatment. I use exfoliator and sheet mask once a week.
