Ego ista 1,344
1. German is much easier since it’s closer to English than French German has similar words and pronunciations 2. French is top 10 most spoken in the world in 2017 while German is 14th not much of a difference to me but if you’re really anal about it then French is more beneficial However I say Mandarin is the most important since it’s the most spoken

ruppi 9,190
Take the language you feel more connected to. I learned french back in school but I never really got to use it, that's why I had no fun learning it. But I kinda want to retake classes now. Loo 5,708
1. As an english speaker, you'll have a hard time with both because of the grammar, French has slightly easier grammar I guess...? But German and English are initially from the same "family" so more connected. 2. Depends on what kind of work you want to do? French is still an international relationship language, like there is still French in the olympics and stuff, so if you plan on going into that sort of field: French. Job market in Germany at the moment is much better looking than France, so like... Business-related stuff or technical related jobs: probably better to learn German. To consider: French people are bad at languages, if you go to France and don't speak French, you'll have a hard time. On the other hand, Germans are quite good at languages, especially English (tho probably with an accent), you can find english speaking jobs more easily in Germany than in France (that is considering you won't be fluent immediately) Overall: Choose what you like, you'll feel more motivated to learn regardless of difficulty, and languages are only useful when you're good at them.... coconut water 2,135
German is much easier. The languages have similar structure since they are in the same language family. In terms of career benefits, French is probably more beneficial but honestly just being bilingual in and of itself is a huge career booster. pooh_bear 1,158
I took French in HS for like 3 years and it was pretty easy and I'm currently trying to brush up my skills, there are a lot of French (way more than i thought) words that are exactly the same as English For the career they seem neck and neck so you should be fine either way Is German really that close to English?? When I was taught it was pretty confusing to me idk maybe the teacher was sucky lol
