More previews for HKTV's line of dramas.

Drama about Vampires.  Special effects are kind of... But what can I say?  Its definitely a huge jump from what we normally see in current Hong Kong Dramas.

Typical family melodrama.

Time travel, second chances.  Unoriginal but for some reason I want to see this one.

For those who care, what do you guys think?

it's cause TVB has literally no competition, so they can shove shit down our throat...

ATV's drama  can only produce something good once every decade

i'll give it a chance

my date with a vampire remains my favorite vampire drama

i loved that drama :ahmagah:

Well that was because they were the only TV station Hong Kong had and was dominant in the past, until now with all the changes and these free to air tv stations challenging the market. I basically grew up watching TVB dramas in my canto-speaking family.

ATV can only afford to air foreign programs on their network, they can only produce a drama of their own once in while lol.

The last TVB drama I watched was that wacky family drama with Wong Cho Lam and Roger Kwok, how sad how much the station has fallen in terms of quality producing dramas and their stars moving to China and a lot of actors changing to these free to air tv stations.

I'm hoping these new dramas will be good, I'm most interested in the last preview drama.

The lack of competition is definitely one of their problems.  However, you have to take the population of Hong Kong in consideration here. I'm going to take what someone told me about Hong Kong's entertainment industry in Asia a while back.  First of all Hong Kong isn't really a big place.  Let's look at the population for other East Asian countries in comparison to Hong Kong.

7.072 million (2011)
Hong Kong, Population

23.31 million (2012)
Taiwan, Population

49.78 million (2011)
South Korea, Population

127.8 million (2011)
Japan, Population

1.344 billion (2011)
China, Population

As you can see, Hong Kong's population only is very small in comparison to other countries.  Less people = Less revenue.  Because of this, the Hong Kong entertainment industry can no longer sustain itself.  Entertainment industries in South Korea and Japan continue to flourish and expand, because they have a bigger population.  As entertainment industries expands, we start to see more companies being formed.  More companies encourages competition and with competition, comes better quality entertainment, shows, and music. This is what Hong Kong lacks.  If we look at the bigger picture we can see why Hong Kong has so many difficulties trying to keep up with the rest of the world.  There are many other factors too... like the pressure from Mainland China's global economic growth, government policies, corrupt companies, etc...

Many TVB artists have already begun to move to China to do dramas there :P
