Why is Taeyeon's Racist Past Being Brought Up?

Because people are slowly realizing that they can only go so far with the car accident mess and need something else to cling to. It's a never ending cycle; they're going to let it die until they run out of fresh material and need a reason to drag her again, and then they'll act like it all happened yesterday. That's pretty much how it is for every idol, as antis are forever thirsty.

Now don't get me wrong, Taeyeon's said some questionable and problematic crap that makes me extremely wary of her behaviour, and I'm always waiting for the other shoe to drop and hoping that it never does because I like her music and I honestly couldn't continue supporting her if that were the case. However, most of what she's said and done to this point is no more harmful than what a lot of other idols do and get defended for (case in point, Jackson calling people haters and telling them to f off because they expressed issues with him wearing locks). So I'm not here for people using the racism argument specifically against her when it's convenient for them, and otherwise being okay with it when their faves do questionable shit - or pretending that she's one of the only people in the world who does it when I can't go through more than 3 videos without someone talking about how jealous they are of someone else's milky white skin or making it sound like they got the crappy end of the genetic lottery because they're darker (and most of them aren't even that dark). The whole two-faced fake concern bit is even more insulting than some of these idols 'racist pasts.'

if someone said "he's okay/average for a white guy" no-one would care....her conment was dumb, unneeded and ignorant. i very much doubt she believes or has believed black people are trash.

The way I see it, we have no way of knowing what she believes - and what she's said so far isn't a good look; for all we know, she could very well think of black people as trash.

But until she explicitly says or does something to indicate that, I'm not jumping down her throat and throwing the word 'racist' around. People say and do stupid, reckless things - not all of them with malicious intent - and in a society where people are conditioned to believe that having lighter skin is better, things like this happen. Now that isn't an excuse - it's still a problem - but she's not the first or only person to say problematic shit, so it's pointless to tear into someone who may or may not be racist because she misspoke, when there are people out there who legitimately believe that black people are trash and don't even try to hide it.

basically what i mean. we don't know what she meant by that, nor her experiences with black people - she very well could have had the unfortunate circumstances of just not seeing good looking black women. far fetched yes, but what i mean is that there are many cases to what could have lead up to that, and racist is a very strong word but is getting diluted every day because people don't want to bother with any effort to think.

i already said it was unneeded and ignorant, i'm not letting her off the hook there. however branding her forever as a racist...has anyone ever heard actions speak louder than words?
