Article: Taeyeon, "A public apology? Only for those affected... I handled and settled the accident well"

Source: X Sports News via Nate

In response to a fan who wrote, "Unni if you're reading the comments, please post a public apology. I'm asking as a fan. I was so scared yesterday, I'm glad everyone's okay", Taeyeon wrote, "Baby, this is not something to apologize publicly over but only for those affected. I handled the accident well so don't worry about it and thank you for worrying about this unni. I'll drive more carefully too."

-

1. [+1,920, -426] Sounds more like she's trying to lecture that fan

2. [+1,756, -385] People always demand too much of celebrities ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ why would she owe any of you an apology?

3. [+1,083, -695] I find her words refreshing. So many of the public seem to think they're owed an apology. This was a car accident between her and those affected. Seems more like people who've always hated Taeyeon are using this as an opportunity to bring up old rumors and make up new ones.

4. [+201, -55] Wow f*ck, look at the attitude in how she wrote that ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ she's so damn cocky;; she acts like she's the victim ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

5. [+178, -39] Yeah of course the apology should be towards the people she affected but Taeyeon's also a celebrity and a public figure. If she caused an accident like this, she should be putting up a public apology. Is it that hard to just bow to the public?;;; Seems like the young fan who left that comment is more mature than her;;;

6. [+156, -38] Look at how she wrote that... you can tell she has a temper ã…‹

7. [+118, -22] I find it so cocky how she wrote "Baby~" to that fan

8. [+102, -36] By her logic, then Choi Siwon shouldn't have made a public apology either and just kept it between him and the deceased's family. She's basically saying all the celebrities who have made public apologies are fools for doing so.

9. [+89, -17] "Baby-ya"?;;; Is she serious? This makes me see her differently

10. [+52, -8] Calling someone "baby" and talking to them as if you're trying to lecture them is so easy to turn people off. I don't think she handled this well at all...

Article: Taeyeon's car accident, did she follow the rules of Petiquette? Against the law to drive with a pet in your lap

Source: Korea Econ via Naver

1. [+547, -33] She's always been so disrespectful. I remember she told a story about how she went to the hospital when she was sick and the nurses were doing nothing and totally talked trash about them on radio ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ and when listeners tried to chime in saying nurses can't do anything without doctor's orders, she was getting all sarcastic like, "Ah~~ seems like I was wrong then, okay okay got it~"... For someone as old as she is, she still acts like she's in junior high

2. [+336, -10] What has gotten into all the celebrities lately

3. [+370, -31] Please don't drive with your pets on your laps... I bet you that she didn't have her poodle in a cage. 99% that she was holding the poodle...

4. [+96, -5] She's always been the type to wear her emotions on her face... I always knew something like this would happen.

5. [+84, -5] I remember she bragged about being a good driver on 'Weekly Idol', seems she got ahead of herself.

6. [+69, -3] So about that blackbox??

Article: Taeyeon promotes new song despite car accident controversy

Source: Sports Today via Nate

1. [+349, -23] She speaks informally to a fan who respectfully asked her for a public apology and called her "baby" ã…‹ã…‹ the fan used formal speech for her and yet she spoke informally back... just look at how little she thinks of her fans

2. [+273, -16] Amazing~

3. [+255, -13] So shameless ã…‹

4. [+52, -4] Sick of her now, I guess it's an SM trait to be so shameless

5. [+48, -5] She doesn't seem all that smart in the head...

6. [+44, -9] I'd either take a break from promos or take some time to myself after an accident like that but she's right back to promoting a new song ã…‹ã…‹

7. [+37, -3] Stay away from the media for a bit...

8. [+36, -2] This whole thing really turned me off from her. I already deleted her off my Melon.

9. [+30, -5] Shouldn't she be skipping the next round of promos for causing an accident?

10. [+29, -2] Even if public sentiment turns against her in Korea, she can still promote and make money in other countries... these celebrities are scared of nothing

11. [+27, -2] So shameless... she really must think she's a victim. Does she not care about the feelings of the people she rammed?

12. [+26, -5] Shouldn't she be reflecting? This is so disappointing, she's a singer I actually liked too

as for what she said, I agree wholeheartedly. this is between her and those involved only, why does she need to apologize to the public? did she wreck all those 1,920 upvoters' cars?

The only comments that matter. Netizens are not owed an apology. I don't care if public sentiment turns against Taeyeon. I'm glad she's staying strong and not bowing to entitled knetz.

She was carelessly driving, admitted it, said she would drive more carefully, and handled the incident privately. She did what she was supposed to do. She does not need to write some 10 page letter to the public asking for forgiveness and going into "reflection" do what the rest of the world would do and learn from your mistakes and move on. Luckily no one was hurt so she can easily learn from this and just be a more careful driver.

Now time to handle this with insurance and the families involves behind the scenes while going about her life. The only way the Korean witch hunt culture will change is if celebrities stop bending at the will of knetz.

she could have worded it better but the message still holds true she doesn't need to apologize to the public because they have nothing to do with it, she didn't do anything publicly it was a private accident that happened off work between her and the victims and it should stay that way stop trying to butt in like you should somehow be insulted by her accident unsure.png

Girl needs a publicist.

She's had a 10 year career and has more money than all of those netizens combined. She's been hated on for literally breathing. I think she's earned being able to speak her mind. Those knetz can stop supporting her and she will still live more comfortably than the rest of them combined. I'm glad she's ignoring these Knetz and doing her own thing.
