Do you think Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has peaked?

We were discussing this in the J-Turd. A number of people on the forum are over her. They say her music isn't as good as it used to be. Her last single didn't do well digitally and didn't have any longevity. The physical single sales weren't that good either but then again she's not the kind of act you would really look to physical singles sales for as a sign of anything.

I think Nakata is trying to take her in a new direction and it's not working.

As for her popularity, she's all over Japan still in ads and on TV and stuff.

Probably, she's a novelty act and I guess it gets boring after a while.

The novelty wore off for me before he first album even came out.

Honestly, Nakata has peaked. He seems to be in a rut. I do wonder though if he'll take some inspiration from the netlabel scene to switch his sound up.

I don't feel like he's peaked, but he does seem to be getting less consistent in quality these days.

She's going to end up like Lady Gaga imo. She'll keep her special fan-base but the public will no longer show as much interest.

There were some comments about how she never sings live, even on shows where everyone is supposed to sing live.

That is it commercially.

What do you think she should do? Get rid of the gimmick?

no, her gimmick is her career, I mean everyone is over Gaga but she still makes waves and has a large fanbase

I actually think Kpop is super gimmicky and after like 3 years idk how ppl stan it but here we are in 2014 and its still truckin', stuff can get tired for people but for others they only stay for the formula if not they ditch it

can't think of any flash in the pan gimmick artists to successfully reinvent themselves, once Japan gets bored of something they drop it.....Hallyu wave

Kyary is next

I look at Ami Suzuki's Supreme Show as the height of his productions. He's had good work since then but nothing since then has topped it.

Namie...

With KPop, I think once people's faves are done, they're done. DBSK breaking up killed a lot of my interest. That and Hyori getting dull. CSJH The Grace going on hiatus. Ivy not releasing as much.
