Thinking you're smart and being confident in your intelligence is great. Thinking you're superior to everyone else? Less okay, but acceptable as long as you don't treat others as if they are inferior, which it sounds like this person is doing. This person says that everyone else is mediocre/inferior, which is not okay because A) It's probably not true, and B) Is unfair considering the person has much more experience and is much older.
