Usually they use PR to 1.) promote their idols and create buzz or 2.) cover shit up be it from their company, other companies, chaebol teas, or the gov.  Not every dating scandal though, mind you.

I think it's not all cases but majority of the relationships are just publicity stunt or if they really are dating they want to milk the cow because of the benefits when the couple is well liked.

But it's very worthy to take into the account if the company have financial resources to do these things and if the answer is yes then there is a very high probablity of these things being happening.

imo its quite obvious all idols date in secret (and fanservice includes lying about their personal life to not hurt delulus feelings) and only those who are desesperate use their love life to get relevancy
