Just out of curiosity...

So you know how sometimes kpop idols will star on cdramas or jdramas, but they don't speak Chinese or Japanese (or at least not very well)? I am legit curious how the general public of these countries support this. I cannot imagine America broadcasting a TV show that starred someone who didn't speak English. Sometimes we will have Mexican or South American actors with light accents, but a very, very strong command of English star on TV shows or in movies-but that is about it.

I've seen movies and shows where they have people who speak a different language. They usually just put subtitles. It's usually only a part or small scenes though and not the whole movie or show. They do this in Fast and the Furious movies.

I don't think I've ever seen a kpop idol star in a j-drama/movie without having to personally speak Japanese.

Nichkhun in his appearance in Ouran spoke Japanese. Jaejoong (in the clips I saw of Sunare) also spoke Japanese. Even Kim Tae Hee spoke Japanese in her JP drama though sometimes she spoke Korean to her stylist. Most of her lines were still in Japanese though.

As others have said, Chinese dramas are mostly dubbed anyway, so idols don't have to even pronounce the words correctly.

Well there are a lot of english movies and shows in which actors don't speak english. If the setting or characters are from Russia then they're gonna hire russian actors, if they're from China then they're going to hire chinese actors. Cdramas are dubbed over, and usually in jdramas it's someone with a considerably good pronunciation, sometimes playing as a gaijin.
