Summary: After the incident hit the news, Kim Junhyung said he received about a thousand KakaoTalk messages and that he “felt the force of the media.†He debated a lot over whether or not he should do an interview, but he felt that he didn’t want this to end with people just gossiping about what actually happened. More than anything, he wants people to know “what a cool friend Hyoyeon is, and that it wasn’t a situation where you should be disappointed in Hyoyeon.â€

“I was afraid that Hyoyeon could possibly take a wrong step and fall. We were 5 meters off the ground, so I was really worried. It might have been a joke, but I was really concerned that Hyoyeon could get hurt badly. And so I thought to get police help. I called them to help us, but I was upset that it got overexaggerated to assault.â€

When asked about the rumors of ‘Hyoyeon bullied’ ‘Hyoyeon commits suicide’, he said, “Those are rumors that I really don’t understand.†He continued, “If you knew Hyoyeon’s personality, those rumors wouldn’t come out.â€

“To put it one way, I think of it as some young person’s imagination spreading. Hyoyeon is really kind, and her personality makes the mood. And she’s as close to the members as she is with family. She’s a friend that is laughing 24/7, living a happy life with her lovely parents, her younger sibling, and her puppy. Honestly, I brushed off those rumors and didn’t take them seriously. Hyoyeon is the type of person who whenever there is a misunderstanding, she goes ‘I just need to do better, I just need to try harder, I just need to show them a cooler side of me.’â€

He also confirmed that they didn’t break-up due to the event with the police. They decided to just remain good friends before that.â€

He continued “Out of everyone I have ever met, Hyoyeon is the nicest and most honest person. We always ask each other how we’re doing and we support each other.†He also claimed that he got SM and Hyoyeon’s permission to do this interview.

I think the most important thing to remember is that they were at the party and most likely at least little bit drunk and that was probably the main reason this happened because as you know many people make silly decisions while being drunk.  Like he said this was just little misunderstanding.
