Explain the difference in Red Velvet and f(x)'s concepts.

red velvet is more of a funny type of weird, they're random and just leave you thinking "what the fuck did i just watch" while fx is a more "aesthetic" kind of weird, red velvet's velvet side is more similar to fx than their red side but its slightly...classier? is that the right word?

Their red side is quirky but it doesn't give you an aesthetic kind of vibe, it's more public friendly and you don't have to listen to their songs at least 5 times to get into them (unless it's Rookie). As for their velvet side, it's a sexier and classier side I would never associate with f(x). Never heard f(x) pulling of R&B.

Well, RV has their dual concept. Their Red side is more quirky and colorful and weird, but also cuter/more girly and sweet than any f(x) concept. Then their Velvet side is more elegant, sophisticated and dark but mature.

Then, f(x)'s concept is much darker, edgier, and has that aesthetic/tumblr vibe.

Their concepts are quite different and so is the sound of their music.

f(x) didn't start off with a dual concept. they started off with a quirky cute type concept but eventually moved to a darker concept. they are mostly electropop and house based music.

red velvet started with a dual concept. they were more girly. however their red mvs always bared a tinge of darker concepts (almost in a tongue-in-cheek matter). meanwhile their velvet side is dark and classy.

F(x) is darker and edgier.

F(x) would never release Red Flavor. Red Velvet would never release Red Light.

Also Red Velvet has a dual concept. F(x) never had a velvet side to them. i guess.

I agree.

I just don't understand people who say that Red Velvet is copy of f(x)

Thanks for explaining f(x) concept better than me, self claimed "MeU" :rlytearpls:

Now I obviously don't follow rv so I'll explain what I can see.

They're more similar if we see ealier years f(x); they still have cutey feeling. We didn't see much smiley smiley f(x) after Hot Summer.

Rv is "cuter" "girlier" both in style and 'aura'. LaChaTa and Chu, albeit not quite "girly", are cute and fresh (its their debut and they're still sooo young).

And the sound. Isn't it very obvious that rv title songs are for public consumption? f(x) is dubbed "National Gibberish Group" thanks for questionable songs, albeit still good, with more questionable lyric. Their most normal title song is 4 walls :imstupid:

Lastly, its quite obvious that f(x), in a group, have different concept style for different member. Amber androgynous, Victoria classy, sexy. Krystal cool, chic. Luna lovely (now also sexily sexy) 'girl next door'. Ex member Sulli was childishly cute. Did other groups (i know 4minute) esp newer ones, have it too?

When f(x) when debuted, one of their shticks was how radically they were from each other.

With Red Velvet, early years they out of the way to make the girls similar and uniformed.

F(x)'s form of weird is actually quite....normal. They're darker and more mature sometimes tho.

With Red Velvet, I'm surprised more people don't compare them to Crayon Pop.

This last one really represent f(x) for me ! RV is more a 'whole'. I think newer groups don't have that much this 'having a different concept for each member" thing as much as before ... I can't seem to think of one like f(x).

For me, more than the concepts, it's the type of music which is very different : f(x) are mostly electropop and house based music, RV is more R&b or others kind of pop than f(x) (sorry I'm not music expert) and is more public friendly.

And it's true that f(x) had more cute/childish concepts at their beginning so it's not about that (only at least).

f(x) is indeed edgier for me, especially in their sound.

I also MAYBE think (my opinion and I'm still not sure of it) that f(x) is more trained in dance (every member is an excellent dancer ! which is not the case of RV) and RV maybe a bit more vocals (Luna wasn't even as great at the beginning as now, she was great but now she is one of the greatest, Amber improved also and wasn't really a vocal at debut, Krystal I love her voice and way of singing (one of my favorites in kpop) but technical wise it's not that).

Red velvet: Girly, bright, scary, elegant, sophisticated, bizarre, quaint.

F(x): Aesthetic, tumblr vibe, dark, uncommon, odd.

There's a lot of differences between Red velvet and F(x), you can say they are similar for their "Unique and singular concepts", but you can't compare both groups.

I personally prefer Red velvet. I like too much the "Dual concept", Red: Bright, strong, powerful, girly, quaint, crazy. Velvet: Elegant, sophisticated, intense, bizarre, scary. I don't know.

Tbh for me Red velvet have more versatility than F(x), RV can literally slay ALL the concepts.

When you watch different Red velvet videos your reactions are diverse:

-"Omg, that girl's are so cute, they look so happy, very girly, very intense".

- "WTF is this?, creepy af, it's so bizarre".

-"So elegant, sophisticated".

On point on their music.

As for your last point, i honestly don't pay attention much to rv so i cant say anything, but yes f(x) worst dancer if put on other groups maybe isnt the worst on dancing. Rv is more into vocal, while f(x) is more into dancing.

Huh.

If we put it on this way, they're very different.

As for people who think rv is more versatile than f(x), i should say they don't know f(x) well :har:

f(x)
South Korean girl group F(X) makes dance-oriented pop music. Formed in 2009, the group features five vocalists who go by their first names: Victoria, Amber, Luna, Sulli, and Krystal. The quintet released two EPs before delivering their full-length debut album, Pinocchio, in 2011. In 2013, they returned with their sophomore album, Pink Tape, which included the single "Rum Pum Pum Pum." ~ Matt Collar

RV
Inspired by artists like En Vogue, Destiny's Child, and Gwen Stefani, South Korea's Red Velvet are a five-member, all-female vocal group who make dance-oriented contemporary R&B and rap-infused pop. Formed by music management giant S.M. Entertainment in Seoul, South Korea in 2014, Red Velvet feature the talents of former S.M. Rookies Seulgi (Kang Seul-gi), Irene (Bae Joo-hyun), and Wendy (Son Seung-wan), as well as Joy (Park Soo-young) and Yeri (Kim Ye-rim). The group's two initial singles, 2014's "Happiness" and "Natural," fared well with audiences and became some of Korea's most watched online videos during the month of their release. In 2015, Red Velvet released their debut EP, Ice Cream Cake, which included the single "Automatic" and debuted at number two on Billboard's World Albums chart. Their first full-length arrived later that year. The Red topped both the Billboard World Albums and the Korean Albums charts atop the success of the single "Dumb Dumb." An R&B-influenced follow-up, The Velvet, arrived in 2016, with EP number three, Russian Roulette, released just months later. Another chart-topper, Rookie, was issued in 2017. ~ Matt Collar
