Article: Late Choi Jin Shil's daughter Choi Junhee shares post about 'suicide'... growing concerns

Source: Sports Seoul via Nate

She shared a quote from the movie 'Play It Again, Sam' about suicide.

1. [+716, -51] Can she knock it off already ã…¡ã…¡ Does she not have shame? Any thoughts? Does she think she can act however she wants because people let her get away with everything since they feel bad about her mother? I'm sure her parents must be proud of her from up in the sky... and all the people who have made sacrifices for you around her too. Wake up. Suicide? You think it's that easy? For you, it's just a post, but do you not realize how much this can concern others?

2. [+640, -35] For the sake of those around you, please just stay quiet

3. [+612, -43] Her grandma needs to beat her, she's acting like this because she grew up without discipline

4. [+42, -3] What's wrong with her... pisses me off

5. [+39, -4] Choi Junhee's obviously using the word 'suicide' to get the attention that she was never able to get from her mother and father. Junhee-ya... this is not a proper way to ask for attention. Please stop. Is it that hard to have a more positive outlook on life?

6. [+32, -8] Aigoo... just let her. What's the point of telling her all these things all the time when she keeps acting like this? I felt bad for her but with the way she keeps acting like this, just let her... sigh, what a fool

7. [+29, -3] Not giving her attention is the only cure..

8. [+20, -1] So sick of this... she's such an attention wh*re... why bother living like that at all? There are so many other kids who are living under worse conditions..

9. [+14, -4] But you have to admit that anyone would go crazy if they lost their mother, father, and uncle to suicide... One suicide in a family can mess so much up, but imagine three... It's not something a young person can handle. I don't get people who tell her "at least you're rich"... so is money supposed to make her happy even after losing her parents like that? Junhee-ya, I just wish that you'll get treated

10. [+13, -3] Getting tired of her acting like this. It's like she's playing all the people who are worried for her for fools!

Honestly there is a huge neglect with mental health support in general, but in Asia with the suicide rate particularly, and these comments really emphasis why. Instead of taking her comments as a cry for help, and hoping she gets the mental health help she obviously needs, they are berating a child as attention seeking. I'm sure her parent's suicides had a profound effect on her, and these comments are beyond gross and insensitive.

I hope that there is someone in her life that is there for her and is willing to care for her and get her help ...  mental illness seems to run in her family, so many suicides.

(im just going to ignore these netizens, sad people as usual when someone is suffering their answer is "shut up" "seeking attention")

Didn't her mom commit suicide because of online harassment? Mess.

Also they’re seriously saying a kid should be beaten for quoting a fucking movie?

I know Nate's comment sections tend to exhibit the worst of knetizens, but it's really unsettling to think about how real people actually thought it was okay to write these things, troll or not... This is such a serious matter. If they do not care, it wouldn't hurt them to refrain from saying anything.

Also, I wish NB had actually included her own input for once, including leaving mental health support links or resources for readers who might need help as well instead of just leaving 99% vile comments on the Internet for everyone to see. I've always had a neutral view of NB but when it comes to truly sensitive matters like this, she should recognise her influence, even as a pure translation site.

If you're reading this and you think you need help, don't be afraid to ask for it. There are assholes who think like these commenters, but there are those who do want to help you manage your own difficulties. Please don't hold yourself back.

Imagine your parents suicided and the public is saying you need to be beat for your depression...the f?

It's more of being uneducated in depression.

A psychiatrist wrote depression patients tended to be attention whore, saying they wanted to commit suicide or hurt themselves but never actually took action, peoples around them would grow tired of them and ignored them, hence the condition would get worse.
