How did your parents take it? Did they care? Did they push you towards it? Did they try and dissuade you?

Oh this doesnt have to do with me wanting to change to an arts major, just curiousity of what its like in that sense and what youd have to deal with bc i could only imagine

im liberal arts so idk if you mean us too but my mom was kind of skeptical abt it cus the usual "what are you gonna do w a ___ degree" but she'd never tell me i cant do it. she'd never rly belittle me either (but a few of her close family/friends did).

most parents know they cant make you not be interested in whatever you want to major in, but i understand why they'd worry abt it.

thank you! rlytearpls.png is there a particular reason why you started this topic? i hope you can get support too chuplz.png

lol thanks chuplz.png not that i want to cuz theres no way i could go the arts route even if i did, but i was drawing today and i kinda miss art. i kinda feel really deprived of a whole part of me. I always wonder if i would be in the field that i am if I 100000% had no worries

im an art history major, but my parents at first didn't take it seriously since they thought that this will get me nowhere. they saw my desire and now they are fully supportive of it.

I think you shouldn't be afraid to take a path that doesn't suit you in their opinion. parents want a better future for us and they sometimes worried that you won't get from your major what you want. just be confident and believe and yourself, speak to them about that as much as you can so they'll fully believe you. that could work.

Im glad you got to do what you wanted! yeah i was wondering too bc ppl around me are constantly dragging arts majors; wanted to see the other perspective

well doing something creative as a hobby is very valid too! even if it's not your pursued study/career you can still express that part of you in many other ways, which sometimes I think might be better depending on your goals in life, because honestly i felt like i lost so much passion during my time in design school, not to mention the money '_' but the thing is you can do as many different things as you want to in order to fulfill all of your passions, like you can study and get a career in one thing, but maybe sell your drawings online as a hobby or anything really to express yourself :D i wish u luck~
