BTS Concert Causes High School Students To Ditch Class, School Investigates

South Korean boy band BTS is officially stateside and hordes of their high school fans were so eager to meet the K-pop superstars that they actually ditched class to catch a live performance.

BTS — aka Beyond The Scene — recently traveled to Los Angeles this week to perform on the American Music Awards this weekend, but stopped by “Jimmy Kimmel Live†Wednesday afternoon for a mini-concert, which tapes within spitting distance from Hollywood High School.

Fans at the concert posted videos of multiple groups of students from the school scaling the walls and jumping fences so they could catch the K-pop sensations.

Officials at Hollywood High were aware of the truant students, and said they were investigating the incident.  However, it sounds like the school district understands the need to experience BTS in-person, with a rep for L.A. Unified telling us “providing a culturally-enhanced learning experience in a safe environment is of paramount importance. We encourage students to participate in concerts … and other artistic activities that enrich their education. However, that participation must be done in a safe and supervised mannerâ€

The school understands they are extremely close to Kimmel’s set, but say “We look forward to working with Jimmy Kimmel Live and other valued partners in the entertainment industry to provide these types of opportunities for our students.â€

Seeing as they are such huge fans, it may be time to start a grassroots movement to get BTS to play the Hollywood High winter formal.
