chiirbii 4,760 Posted November 16, 2017 Share Posted November 16, 2017 Welp. A vote today was held for the faculty on strike and 86% voted no for ending the strike. This is happening in Ontario, Canada and over 500,000 full and part time students have had their college courses halted for the past 5 weeks. I have a friend that was enrolled in this semester and she's been royally fucked over by this. Some of her teachers dropped some course materials before the strike happened but it wasn't enough to last over 5 weeks, and of course, it was all without instruction and missing lessons. I was supposed to go back to college in January and I'm close to graduation so this is super frustrating. For the record, I stand with the strike even though it's going to fuck over my next year of schooling. It all boils down to colleges wanting money and not treating their staff reasonably. None of this would have happened if the colleges hired and treated the staff properly. Instead they cut corners. Hope you and your friend can go to class by the new year OP!
