Are people in Japan that are obsessed with Western culture viewed as poorly as Weaboos in Western society?

Or is a Korean that is obsessed with Western things viewed as poorly as a Koreaboo out here?

I mean some of the music definitely has western influences, but I remember watching a video once where this guy was in either Japan or Korea (think it was Japan) where they asked young people if they knew certain western celebrities like Beyonce and stuff like that and some of them had absolutely no clue who any of them were. Some of them knew the songs and just had no clue who they were by. Yet at the same time you see in their media you see that they really like some aspects of western culture.

It just makes me wonder if the treatment of people out there who are obsessed with Western culture is similar to the treatment of westerners that are obsessed with asian culture. Like if their is some Japanese kid that is getting bullied because he pirated an episode of Ellen to see his fave.

I wonder if they deal with stuff like "Are you listening to that white/black people music again?" "Why do you dress like an American?" "You're going to marry some black person one day"

Do you think the treatment is similar?

I've heard about it with dating, where some are accused of fetish? Stuff like "You dating a black guy? It's because of his dick size right?" or You're dating that white westerner? You look down on your own ppl?"

Nah,

Tbh the fact that people who are obsessed with Korea or Japan are treated like this is really disturbing. It makes me wonder if liking another country is actually a sin....

there's a difference between liking a country, and fetishizing it and the people in it. Koreaboos and weeaboos are those who are deluded to think Japan or Korea is some paradise utopia when they aren't. You don't see people who like European countries get a bad rap because they don't fetishize the countries the way weeaboos and Koreaboos do with Japan and Korea.

I think that they do have to rights to like whatever they want tho...But no country is paradise...Both Korea and also Japan have many flaws...But personally I still love Japan and the people are mostly polite and respectful which is good..

And I do know some people who actually talk about countries too much such as France...But nobody calls them franceboos. I personally think that it's okay to be obsessed with another country...but well too much exaggeration is not good either. However the problem is that people call any person who likes to learn Korean or Japanese weaboos. And sometimes they almost call anyone who like kpop or anime/jpop koreaboo or weaboo..

I don't think it's nice to insult people just because they like something.
