Ahh i'm so happy for Ahn Seung-kyun! He's steadily getting roles now. rlytearpls.png He has great acting chops since he starred in various musicals before getting supporting roles in the small screen (I think he's still doing musicals lol). Looking at this cast list, it seems like they're getting actors and actresses for the supporting roles who are also excellent in acting in order to match with the solid lineup of lead roles. I'm totally loving this cast so far!

Is anyone livestreaming? Your thoughts?

From the little clips I've seen the drama's shot so beautifully!

The start is reaaaally slow but it definitely gets more interesting during the introduction of Ji-An's life (I almost shed a tear ngl). Even though Jang Kiyong is such an asshole in the drama, he's definitely one of the scene stealers here imo. I love the bros as well especially Park Hosan lol I'll watch it again with subs to better understand the dialogue/humor. Can't wait for ep 2!

A lot of clips are on Naver, in the drama own channel: http://tv.naver.com/cjenm.tvNmymister

You can check the comments in the videos too to get a sense of the opinion.

I will wait for the subs too watch it.

Positive reactions so far!

i watched the drama raw and i really loved it.

the director is a master. he really deserves a shout out and all the love.

since the trailer, I had gotten 'girl with the dragon tattoo' vibes and that still kinda followed (for me) during this first episode.

Although the first episode has taken it's time to lay out the story line, it didn't feel slow. I actually love this pace, it feels like characters are going to be fully developed. I have hopes.

personal pointers:

Favourite scene: every Lee JiAn + Grandma moments

Scene stealer is definitely Jang Kiyong!!!!!!!

Sound track is superb

although it's not an excitable drama, I'm really curious about how the story will develop, how the characters will grow and what will happen next.

It's a really mature and realistic drama so I don't think it's for everyone, but after being soooo bored with the same old in kdrama for so long, this is exactly what I needed!!!

Misaeng is the last drama I truly enjoyed,  I can see this one taking it's place ^^

you can read a live recaps here:

https://www.bah-doo.com/ajusshi-mister-live-recap-episode-1/

You can totally see that JKY's acting has definitely improved. All that hard work of researching and watching noir films/characters is paying off. laugh.png  Also, as expected, tvN dramas delivers with the OSTs! I'm for sure going to download the album once the drama ends.

------------------------------

I also just wanted to add that Kibeom is such a lazy ass friend lmao Jian, the men in your life are useless!! lol but I was extremely happy when Seungkyoon (Kibeom) appeared because I honestly didn't expect him to appear this early in the drama. laugh.png I'm proud of this boy for steadily landing roles. He also gets to work with IUsus and call her noona rlytearpls.png

lmao his scenes were so fun I laughed when he got all startled by seeing Jian's grandma bundled up in the cart

Can't wait to see him using his hacking skills later on in the drama

But I thought he was an early 94er (January) so she gained another same-aged friend rlytearpls.png

Btw what would be a decent ratings premiere? Like I'm not expecting this to be a mega hit, but what would at least be average/not a flop for a cable drama in this time slot? Maybe 4-5% considering the caliber of the director?

My hunch that he would be an added comic relief was right laugh.png

He called her noona on his instagram post hurrplz.png

https://instagram.com/p/BffHtmSDVgC/

Hmmm. The director's past dramas like Misaeng actually had 1-2% ratings for the first ep but it gradually went up to 8-10%. If they get a 2% rating for the first two eps, they're good.

Yes I just saw Misaeng's ratings

I really hope my Mister would be as well-received by the public and would have rising ratings.

That boycotting bs is really annoying

Fingers crossed!!!

Yeah it's downright absurd smh

I'm so happy reading your posts, seems like this drama will be good I knew it!!! I'm also proud of the fact IU got positive reviews right off the bat, this means a lot after everything she's been though with her past dramas (especially moon lovers rlytearpls.png ). I cant wait to watch it comfortably with subs!

Also what are the odds of possibly IU singing the OST? I would love her to.

I hope she takes part in the ost this time. I miss drama ost IU warstarplz.png

sidenote: I got very excited when one of the osts started playing because I legit thought the one humming in the song was IU but I got excited for nothing since it was another singer huhuhu i guess im /that/ thirsty for ost IU ;~;

Yeah, there was a change also when they initially submitted...

The initial error was also with a double line relationship that needed to remove the red line (love/affection) and be only blue line (enemies/antagonists), like Nara's character and the youngest brother now.

And they also removed the red line between Ji An and Dong Hoon, and between the CEO and Dong Hoon's wife.

No more red lines in this drama! laugh.png

Yaass I'm all for this! laugh.png

But lmao at them editing the chart AGAIN

I think they're going to make things kinda vague with the relationships hence the red line edits laugh.png

That this even had to be clarified is too funny. Like watch the drama first or at least do proper research before starting a witch hunt.. the antis are desperate! Still laughing at how apparently dating violence is being glorified between two enemies (lol) + lolita this lolita that when they don't even know the definition of the word. I even saw tweets comparing this to Eungyo the movie like what? laugh.png

OMG LMAOOOO DID THEY EVEN WATCH EUNGYO??? LOOOOL it's like they didn't watch one of the two...or both HAHAHAHA

This episode was soooo fun! I laughed so much because of the brothers lol. We get to see how smart and badass Jian is in this episode and a glimpse of obsessive Gwang-il? I bet he's going to start being creepy af (I mean he wasn't /that/ creepy during the first ep imo). Also, ngl I almost cried during grandma's scene today ;~;

people are so used to kdramas with romance involved that slice of life dramas/dramas that actually depict real life are so foreign to them *sigh* not all dramas need to have love line or something @ netz ohpressor.png

it's funny how they're against the thought of her character having a romantic relationship with LSG but seem to have no problem with Ki Yong's character having a relationship with LJA even though Ki Yong and IU are only a year apart and LSG and LJA are both 43.

Kiyong's character doesn't have an affair with Lee Jiah's character tho? It's Kim Youngmin's character who has an affair with her laugh.png Edit: But yeah kr twitter attacked the adultery topic during the first ep and were saying that people shouldn't watch the drama bc it's anti-feminist, it romanticizes dating violence, it has adultery, and "lolita" rolleyes.gif

I...where the hell are they seeing this "lolita" theme because I saw none of that, are they even watching the same drama we're talking about here???? Dong Hoon feels pity for Ji An and Ji An certainly doesn't see Dong Hoon in any sort of romantic way nor is she a little kid forced to dress and act like an adult for sexual purposes. Same with dating violence--like they're Korean, they can understand the drama without subs, yet I as an I-fan understood that Jang Kiyong's character and IU's character aren't even dating and that they have an enemy relationship better than them???

these people obvs haven’t watched the drama and are just basing everything on vague character descriptions lmao probably also dragging it just because IU is involved *rolls eyes*

Was Dong Hoon indirectly trying to protect Ji An by not stating outright that he suspected her of stealing the envelope of money from his drawer?

I wonder what caused Ji An to have a change of heart and take back the 50 mil that she was going to use to pay off her debt once and for all...did she somehow find out about what went on in the phone convo between the loan shark she was with and Jang Kiyong's character?

Ji An's brother is so goddamn useless. I know he's young and most likely still in school but he seems to care more about playing what looks like an MMORPG than helping Ji An take care of their poor grandmother.

Dong Hoon's brothers annoy me so far.

edit: also they totally should've figured out another way of looking for Ji An at the subway entrance/exit instead of looking like middle-aged creeps to all the women exiting lmao

i think he was going to tell but when he was starting to do that, his superior told him about it being found in the trash?? lol also Kibeom isn’t her brother. He’s her friend. According to his character description, he does what Jian says since he feels indebted to her (she also pays for his debts huhu).

Welp as expected the frameup is becoming a hot topic now.

Stay tuned for the translated comments a.k.a. "knetz comment without knowing the context" S100E2 lmaooo

Also, I am really loving this bff combo tho.  It seems like they've done this already many times lol. Ahn Seungkyoon's character isn't completely useless after all. laugh.png

if I remember correctly, there is a scene where Ji An got beating again. but look like they do not release it in the short clip. I have not watched the 4th ep yet, did they still include that scene? unsure.png

It's in the latest ep! It's a bit longer too this time since... *spoiler alert*

...it's not just one beating that they're going to show ã… ã…

IU is soooo good with her acting on this episode wow

the only question that I have so far after watching the raw ep is how did Jian convince Gwang-il to give her a receipt for the 10k plus add in the line that he shouldn't enter her house or else her debt will be cancelled??? i mean he was so adamant not to give her a receipt that's why he beat her up (plus the fact that Jian insulted him again added to the rage)?
