It will be a 12- or 16- episode drama. It is unlikely that Lee Sunkyun will marry the Klus in the end and at best it will probably end as an open ended ending Given it is a family drama it doesn't look likely that LSK will die in the end now.

I think it will have 16 eps. Mother airing just before is a family drama as well and they got 16 eps so I'm expecting the same for my ajusshi. But I'm screaming at the accuracy of your post tho lmao you're truly IU #1 fan. Hope you will enjoy the drama~~

My Ajusshi cast lineup secured with Lee Seon-kyun, IU headlining

Casting has been confirmed for My Ajusshi, the project from Oh Hae-young Again’s writer and Signal’s director that had Lee Seon-kyun (This Week, My Wife Will Have an Affair) attached to it very early on. He has just confirmed, and so has IU (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo) to be his leading lady.

My Ajusshi is about three middle-aged brothers, each dealing with their different burdens in life, who meet a cold and prickly young lady who is similarly going through her own life’s difficulties. Together, they help each other heal and grow. Lee Seon-kyun is set to play the middle brother, Park Dong-hoon, who works as a structural engineer of an architectural firm that has the motto “Safety first.†He’s a stoic and quiet individual, but knowing Lee Seon-kyun, I’m ready to see him inject a lot of quirky charm into the character.

Then there’s IU, who I’ve liked before in her other previous prickly pear role (The Producers). In that drama, despite her outer selfishness, I could see glimmers of self-awareness and a soft inner heart, which is what I’m hoping for in her upcoming role. Her character begins as a contract worker, employed on a three-month probationary period. So when her boss tells her to find out Park Dong-hoon’s (Lee Seon-kyun) weakness, she has no choice but to try in order to maintain her employed status. But once she gets to know him and his warm personality, she begins to shed her own tough exterior and jaded mindset about others.

Na Mun-hee, Oh Dal-soo, Song Sae-byuk

We can’t forget about Lee Seon-kyun’s onscreen brothers: I’m so excited for this trio—it already looks like a comedy match made in heaven. Chungmuro’s number one funny man Oh Dal-soo (Master, Tunnel) will be playing Lee Seon-kyun’s older brother, who went bankrupt twice after trying to launch his own business when he was fired from his company. As a result, he was run out of his house by his wife, and now lives with his mother again. Despite all that, he’s a romantic who looks back on his failures with a good humorous attitude.

And the youngest brother will be played by Chungmuro actor Song Sae-byuk (Night of Seven Years, Sound of a Flower) who has been primarily active in films since his breakout role in The Servant. His character is similarly in the movie industry: At twenty years old, he was proclaimed a genius prodigy producer whose independent film made it to the Cannes International Film Festival. However, it’s been twenty years since then, and he has yet to debut officially as a film director, and he ends up relinquishing his dreams in despair due to a set of fateful circumstances.

The mom who raised them all will be played by Na Mun-hee (I Can Speak, Dear My Friends). Her two biggest worries are her first son, who is living with her and currently undergoing a separation with his wife, and her maknae son, an unmarried bachelor at age forty with no prospects. The actress is so cute and funny in so many heartwarming family films and dramas, and I’m very much looking forward to her interactions with Oh Dal-soo.

My Ajusshi will be broadcast at the beginning of 2018 on tvN.

Me too :ninja: interesting that Jang Kiyong was kinda in the spotlight with the other 3 at the script reading. I thought his role was small but if his involvement is bigger then I'm happy. Hoping for a love line with IU :ninja:

Same! "IU's man" deserves nothing less.

Optimistic about it because Lee Sungyun and Lee Jiah were standing next to each other and are a couple in the drama so.. :hurr:

I'm still confused why his role is the only one with no description though :(

Exactly. It's as if they want to keep it a secret til the end lol I'm pretty excited about it and I'm ready for all the gifs and screenshots of their scenes together. If they kiss again I will be dead *now playing Friday MV*

Don't know if he will show up during the start of the drama, since he shot some scenes already or if they will cast someone else and redo those scenes.

When there's a will there's a way. They can easily do what Age of Youth team did which was casting somebody else to redo the scenes. But that's only possible if his character was vital to the main character's story. If not, they can just remove his character and delete his scenes altogether.

His character was one of the three brothers and all of them seem central to the story to some degree.

In this case the production team shall find somebody else to replace him and reshoot all the scenes. It's gonna be hard on everyone but they made the best decision.

With English subtitles.

I'm so hyped for this omggg. Can't believe its starting next week already. I'm honestly getting a Misaeng vibe from the stills and even the teaser released so far. That drama was a masterpiece so if My Mister is heading towards the same direction, we're in for one hell of a ride. Can't wait :la:

This drama is going to heal all of us I'm SO HYPED. The teaser looks so promising can't wait for the 1st episode :la:

can't wait. I've been trying to hold myself back from too many expectations but the trailers look high-quality with amazing editing. also really anticipating the OST for this drama - I'm sure there will be so many touching ballads

Somehow I feel like BB4 will be on it  but yes I agree, the OST should be awesome. I hope they call Ben for this, she's got such a sweet voice and her OSTs are always top notch!

I'm so happy reading your posts, seems like this drama will be good I knew it!!! I'm also proud of the fact IU got positive reviews right off the bat, this means a lot after everything she's been though with her past dramas (especially moon lovers rlytearpls.png ). I cant wait to watch it comfortably with subs!

Also what are the odds of possibly IU singing the OST? I would love her to.

Fingers crossed!!!

Yeah it's downright absurd smh

I hope she takes part in the ost this time. I miss drama ost IU warstarplz.png

sidenote: I got very excited when one of the osts started playing because I legit thought the one humming in the song was IU but I got excited for nothing since it was another singer huhuhu i guess im /that/ thirsty for ost IU ;~;

Same rlytearpls.png Also IU's voice is the true definition of healing and since this is a healing family drama, it would make no sense not to have her on the OST imo. I'm really hoping she will be part of it, I think something similar to Heart or TTN would really suit this drama.

The first episode was really good it deserves all the praise.

Spoilers

It was clearly an introduction to all the characters but it wasn't boring either. Lee Sun Gyun is such a great actor and IU scenes were my faves honestly. Her character is so badass but pitiful at the same time. I felt so bad for her when she ate the restaurant leftovers, took care of her grandma and then when she got beat up, it felt so real. I don't quite feel the chemistry with Jang Kiyong yet (tho he's doing great as the bad guy)...I think I felt more of a chemistry with LSG? When they went to eat and that bug conversation at the office. Idk. I just felt more of a connection and I can't wait to see how their relationship will develop.

This drama is looking so great right now: relatable and realistic. It's a healing drama mixed with thriller elements. I can tell it's going to be much more interesting in the next episodes. Can't wait!

ratings are out!!

it increased!!

the impresive thing is that it increased even though it's against strong finale for 'return'!!!

we are at a really good start!

after the cliff hanger/ double edged sword this episode, I can only predict better ratings next week!

Yup it was Return's finale this week so they did amazing. It's good that more people tuned in for ep 2 and I can't wait to see what's gonna happen next week. Subs for ep 2 are already out, off watching~~ Edited by HugeBoi Minos Wife

2nd episode was so much more interesting honestly. Like I said before, I can feel the chemistry between PDH and LJA even if they haven't talked to each other a lot...or maybe they have through their facial expressions, silence or even just gazes. They convey emotions through their body language and I have to command Lee Sun Gyun and IU's acting, they're both awesome.

Ji An is as expected so badass and self dependable, she's really out there fighting for herself while PDH looks defeated all the time. Both are pitiful and have their own struggles but I like how pro active Ji An is when it comes to solving problems vs PDH being freaked out and lost all the time. This is something new in kdrama, especially for female characters and I'm glad hers was written like that.

I'm also curious to see how the politics at the office will play out. Both sides seem so desperate to fire each other so let's see who wins and what role Ji An will play into it. She's trying to survive after all so I'm not surprised she approached the CEO and offered her service in exchange of money (which she needs the most rn).

I'm so hooked on this drama and cant wait for more episodes this week!
