Article: Hyorin to set up her own one man agency with the help of professionals... solo activities begin [official]

Source: Sports Donga via Naver

1. [+1,306, -28] I remember someone commenting before that they thought Hyorin would set up her own agency and they were right

2. [+738, -30] Money is all it takes to earn loyalty and status

3. [+623, -37] Soyu's the only one left in Starship now

4. [+286, -10] Heard one man agencies are super hard to maintain unless they have a ton of consistent income..

5. [+114, -5] Would've been so nice if they just kept the team around while doing solo stuff...

6. [+175, -27] So many popular idols seem to think that their fame will transition with them when they go solo... idols like Hyorin have probably made enough money to live off of, why not just stay and share with the group and still do solo activities on the side. That would guarantee longer fame and income... How many idols have we seen exist from their groups to succeed? We already know the answer... and we're already sick of seeing the repetition so yeah, good luck.

7. [+233, -47] My cold judgment is that Hyorin's fame had a lot more to do with SISTAR than just herself. All of her solo songs flopped on the charts.

8. [+89, -4] One man agencies... are one of the surest ways to blow everything.

9. [+154, -26] I honestly think she's being too greedy

10. [+151, -28] I had my speculations about their disbandment and this seems to confirm it..

11. [+140, -29] She probably didn't expect our reactions right now. She thinks she's some amazing talent but she's a lot less talented than a ton of solos like Baek Yerin, her high notes are so frustrating to listen to, and nevermind her looks... She'll be forgotten easily.

12. [+67, -14] I already predict that she'll be on TV crying in a few years talking about how she was too busy running her agency to focus on her music and how she was scammed, etc...

13. [+80, -21] She lacks the visuals to have any worth as a product on her own

14. [+16, -1] I remember several years ago when Seo In Young set up her own agency at the height of her 'WGM' fame and it failed miserably and she ended up back with Star Empire. Hyorin will be okay since she sings well but I don't think it's going to be easy so fighting.

15. [+24, -4] The SISTAR + Brave Brothers combo was jjang. Without the combo, they're just whatever.

I think I've said this before but I'll say it again anyway... I don't know how far she'll go with this because musical talent, experience, and connections can all mean nothing without shrewd business acumen but hell I really admire her guts. Good luck bb

I mean, 99% of the netizen comments are trash, but they do have a point when they say that the financial risk involved with going the "one man/woman agency" route is quite high and that it is a good way to blow your money.
I mean, even IU is in a bigger agency, and Yoo Jae Suk gave up his one man agency after several years to join FNC a year or two ago.

Why do they act like it's a problem to not want to split a good portion of her income with a company who hardly invested in her when she thinks she can do it herself. Even if she doesn't do well she's going to be getting a bigger portion of income so hopefully she'll be fine. I hope she does well, at least well enough to have a stable lifestyle where she can make and release music whenever she'd like.

I love it. For Jay Park, one of the main things that helped him was that he had all the connections in the world, to make good music, to make good videos, etc. Hyolyn is just like that. SO many people in the industry love her, not even just in Korea but internationally. Last year when she performed at SXSW, she went because promoters saw her perform in Japan and liked her so much that they invited her.

Also, Jay Park keeps money flowing by constantly doing concerts and live performances and according to people who've went, Hyolyn's lives are legendary. So I think she'll be fine as long as she keeps a steady schedule of performances. I'm really happy for her. Starship is fine for some people. But it was very clear that they believed that the members and the group had plateaued. Which, it's fine to be practical in that sense but to not do anything about was so wack. I love that the members really seem to be entering their second phase. SISTAR wins again, lol.
