I had good marks for unimportant subjects and passing marks for the hard ones (math, physics, chemistry) in highschool

and for college exam I got an A and C and got in

(I mean I guess, we don't use letters for marks here so I hope I got them right)

3.0ish-3.5 for ivy, but they don't only consider your GPA, for example having a high rep on OH or a badge of honor for trolling can't go on your resume, so I will consider doing community service, volunteer, take college classes, general education to be specific so you don't waste your time and tuition taking it in college. Also get your self together in every way possible, it is very easy to loose focus, get carried away and keep dropping. But it is hard to raise your GPA, so get involved do writing competitions, try get a scholarship boost you up on the list as well. But no matter how much you do these things if you don't backup your effort with hard work, it is all futile and sometimes it is very hard to pick up pieces of broken glasses without getting hurt. So the ball is in your court. :)

To be honest, it depends on a lot more than just your grades. Your SAT scores, your essay, community service hours, but also your family's financial situation. If you get amazing SAT scores (both regular and maybe even subject testing) you will be in a lot better place than I was. However based on the info you said, your overall GPA (even if you do great rest of sophmore and then junior/senior) will be hurt because of your freshmen year.

Does one D really hurt me from freshman year? If I get As and Bs for the rest of my highschool career will that bring up my gpa?

If you live in the US, I would recommend that you get your grades up in your second term of sophomore year. You will also need to maintain a solid GPA your junior and senior year. When you apply for universities, you can talk about your low grades in the beginning and how you've been able to change your ways, which is why you've been able to maintain good grades for the terms following.

Outside of grades, your extra curricular activities are what will make you stand out. Being consistent is important. It's not so much how many clubs, sports, volunteer groups you've joined than it is how those activities  show your dedication and passion towards something.

Your application needs to stand out. It would  look good if you got letters of recommendations from people outside of your teachers/counselors. Like it's a lot more rare to get a letter of rec from your principal. It is also good to see you enter in national competitions of sorts.

i got 3.85 and barely made it into my college and graduated with rank top70 in my class

but then one of my friend with below 3.20 enrolled in the same major but different college,. and she got top10 in her class.

good college is good for your resume but i learnt that employer will refer to your ranking first before anything.

lesson learnt,, good college is not everything~ once you enrolled, you just need to do your best to be in top and gain extra skills by active in society/clubs/sports to make your resume lavish.

Yes it will, since it is an average. If you get consistent As & Bs it will even out decently

It will depend on your school, but sometimes honors classes or college credit classes have a weight to them, meaning the average put in for GPA calculation will get a boost since its a harder level class. So lets say you got a 92 in a regular class, it would be just a 92. If it were lets say an honors class, my school's weight for honors classes was 1.05. So while your transcript will show a 92 for the class, for the GPA calculation they actually will use (92 x 1.05)= 99.75

Does that make sense?

But I dont think colleges will really hold it against you- a lot of colleges really only prioritize junior & senior years. Junior to show your best performance, senior to show you are not slacking off during your senior year/getting lazy.
