When BTS makes the US TV debut on an AMA stage...

This is actually really huge.

Even Psy's first TV performance was on The Today Show, but BTS is gonna make their debut stage at the AMAs. This means they skipped breakfast programs, daytime talk shows, late night talk shows,  primetime comeptition series (DWTS, The Voice, American Idol, etc) and just went straight to prestige. This is one of the best glory stories in K-Pop considering they're a non Big 3 group whose debut stage in Korea was no match to rookies from better known companies.

As a matter of fact they weren't invited to come to MAMA 2013 despite being nominated for Best New Group.

But it's 2017 and they're taking their US debut stage straight to the AMAs. What character development, almost too good and movie-worthy.

Apparently Missing one piece of news warrants a targeted harrassment campaign against a woman by misogynists. And this isn't the first time women have been victimized by BTS and their "army" of sexist trolls

I actually thought they would have to upgrade to performing on the BBMAs first before even dreaming of the AMAs, but BTS loves skipping things. Had they been a 5-year-old group, they would've won the President's award at their government's award show this year since they were nominated, skipping the Prime Minister award altogether. harharplz.png

The best part of this is seeing how angry antis are getting.  It's the same old "deny, then play down the achievement" shit they always pull ("bts would never be invited to the amas" - they are "well nobody knows what the amas are anyways".) imhappyplz.png harharplz.png

I live in the U.S.. The AMA's have no prestige. It is a phony awards show that people watch for performances. That's it.

So it's a good thing they're performing at it. smile.png

Also I wouldn't say it's phony, just that it tends to favor popularity over critic's opinions.

We don't give a shit about prestige but we do about the future networking, collaborations and new fans

People downplayed their social award but look how much fans they gained after that!

Finally, the members will watch some of their faves, live a great experience seeing all the support from fans and of course will get more experienced and happy. That's the most important thing

The best part is that they're getting more and more desperate and their justification is starting to downplay their own faves.

Like, you can't act like the AMAs are worthless but then give any level of prestige to KPop award shows when they're basically the exact same thing. One is just the Western version.

Bighit is really like "go big or nothing at all"

I'm here praying that they will be well received by everybody there if not better than bbmas. Give the performance of their life, make huge tonne of impression on everybody, make contact with fellow artists & just bask in the glory & enjoy their time there.

I hope US army will be there with them cheering for all of us & make sure they feel at home

LOL, it's funny how some are trying to downplay BTS' AMA performance by comparing them to PSY since the latter did it first, like they can't use their own groups to downplay BTS anymore. They gotta use the one biggest viral phenomenon from Korea to 'prove' their point. hurrplz.png

Psy performed on the AMA's with MC Hammer and remains a Gangnam Style joke. America is just not receptive to non-english speaking acts. I always point to Shakira. She was a latin music giant, but until she learned English she was a nugu to most Americans.

XD idk why but it really made me laugh, the way you put it :P

I'm just waiting for Beyonce to acknowledge BTS so I can see 'No one knows Beyonce' written somewhere xD Just for the fun of it

(even tho I love queen B)

Well, they do say they're the biggest fan-voted award show... so... makes sense xD (whether they're actually the biggest or not is a different matter and idgaf)
