Do you have to be a good dancer to be a good choreographer?

It's a necessity. Well let me clarify. You had to be a good dancer at some point. You may not be able to dance as well now but you had to have been pretty good before.

Hm I'm rethinking this because there are many vocal teachers with horrible vocal technique. So my final answer is...you have to know a lot of knowledge about the art to be able to teach it.

No, but it usually improves the quality.

Usually a lot of choreographers are good dancers or have had a good dance career.

More successful choreographers have to have an innate understand of the movement of the body, which is extremely hard to understand properly unless they have intense dance experience. This understanding of the body is also why I'd be inclined to go to a doctor/osteopath/physio who has had a dance career because they understand the way a body moves more naturally than those who have just trained in how to correct the body. I personally think you will get better treatment from them.

Well being a good choreographer requires creativity, passion and a good ear to be able to listen to the music and create movements with good rythem,

Of course you need to be a dancer to pull off a choreo since you need to know a lot of steps, not a good dancer but at least have knowledge of it, have danced before...
