warning: rape joke

so we've been arguing with my friend about the meaning of "tearing" in this:

i think that it refers to vagina tearing and there can't be any other meaning in this context. my friend thinks the meaning is broader and may refer to some other injury e.g. skin tearing anywhere on the body.

also my friend won't accept any expertise but that of a native speaker so i guess this question is only for ppl with english as their first language.

It’s just vagina

He even specifically said vaginal bruising and *tearing*

and non of us even heard "vaginal" there damn it's embarrassing. thanks

but if "vaginal" wasn't there is meaning still clear?

if he didn't specify "vaginal" then it would have a broader meaning, but i think the word "tearing" would make most people assume it was vaginal anyways

the verb "tear" is usually only used to refer to some specific parts of the body, and the context would imply the vagina. but it would still be possible for it to have the broad meaning, if that makes sense

it does, thank you. it's just with his little pantomime it was hard for me to contemplate any other meaning.

also i thought "tearing" in medical context is quite, yeah, specific. like scratches and bruises are used often when describing abuse but tearing is an injury of elastic tissue ripping so it's kinda not used just in general like "there were bruises and tearings", it should be clear what tissue was damaged skin, ligament etc., no?

yes you're totally right, the elasticity is one of the main factors in what verb you would use with it
