Amazing background harmonies you might not have noticed in your fave Kpop group's releases

Recommended Posts

A song without harmonies and ad libs would be so dry and 'thin', and just won't have the same impact that a song full of layers does.  I just want to bring more attention to them and allow people to appreciate them more.

Twice's Signal - Pay especially close attention to the pre-chorus @ 0:55 and @ 2:00; they're definitely my favourite parts:

Red Velvet's Red flavour - It's so nice to hear Irene, Joy and Yeri contribute to the ad libs alongside Seulgi and Wendy too:

Mamamoo's Piano man - You have to listen to this; it'll blow your mind away.  Mamamoo IS the active girl group most highly acclaimed for their vocals after all:

EXO's Growl - They don't call EXO one of the most vocally polished boy groups for nothing:

BTS's I need u - All those background vocals and that falsetto at the bridge tho:

BtoB's Missing You - Probably the most beautiful thing you'll hear all week; that harmony in the chorus makes me weak man:

Black Pink's Playing with fire - Omg get those ad libs Lisa!  And can you hear Jisoo's voice in the chorus?

I love songs with great harmonies! I was talking with someone about this recently, but since I don't understand Korean K-POP music is almost like classical music or EDM dance music to me. The vocals are just another part of the instrumentation and I don't get distracted by lyrics but listen to it as a whole. Groups that can blend well but you can tell each member by tone, have good harmony as well as ad-libs that complete the background track just please the hell out of me.

And Missing You is so. damn. good.

Around 2 days ago I was listening to Mojito (a B-side from RV's Red Summer for those who don't know it) in a stereo and I realized Irene and Yeri are doing bass notes in the background while JoWenSeul does the high voice!

This!  People underestimate these two too much; they add a lot of depth to RV's songs.  Especially Yeri; did you notice her amazing lower register in Cool hot sweet love?!  I'm seriously in love <3

I'll add some as well!

I am that person who will bring Butterfly (Prologue Mix) everywhere, I mean listen to that harmony:

Pentagon literally has songs with harmonies in B-sides, and even in title songs!

Can You Feel It. Harmonies literally everywhere.

Critical Beauty. The harmony in the chorus is just so wonderful and breathtaking, especially on Hui's part:

When I Was In Love has seriously one of the most enchanting harmony too ahmagahplz.png

Nevertheless, every songs that you put here bring me shivers gosh, I love harmonies

Red Velvet and EXO have an amazing job at harmonies and ad-libs, I wish people had the nerve to notice that.

Happiness, Ice Cream Cake, Happiness and Rookie for title tracks have some fucking awesome stuff going on in the mix that people don't normally notice but as soon as you pay attention you're like

MIND

BLOW.

I can also mention Zoo, Oh Boy, Candy, Cool Hot Sweet Love as b-sides even though there are more.

Yeri and Irene voices work SO WELL in the lower parts of the harmonies and people discredit them loosely. I'm just glad producers started noticing that Yeri's vocals shine more on the lower range than the upper ranges due to her lack of technique. Irene too, but I think it has more to do with how comfortable she is on lower notes even though Seulgi and Wendy are the top notch when it comes to low notes. They can handle the high pitches.

What I can say about EXO? I mean, Lucky One! Bitch lucky one GOT ME SHOOK. Up till this date I find new things everytime I hear Lucky One and I can't get enough. I don't know how it wasn't one of their biggest hits. I'm gonna mention MAMA, Black Pearl, EXODUS, Baby Don't Cry, Heaven etc.
