What do you attribute increased physical sales too?

Okay, so correct me if I am wrong (gently please), but aren't physical sales growing at a pretty fast rate rn? I mean for all groups, nugu, moderately successful, and big3 groups? I just remember when I first got into kpop, selling 30k was seen as somewhat successful? (but I also didn't really follow sales/charts).

Is it because idol fans in korea are becoming more multi fandom? The market in korea for idol groups is expanding in age range? More fanmeets? Or do you attribute it mainly to growing international sales?

The things that I can see is the increase of number of stores that reported their sales to Hanteo and Gaon & the increment in international buyers who buy from Hanteo-affiliated or Gaon-affiliated stores.

The multifandom might be true too. New generation of fans are mostly multifandom compare to generation of fans before.

1) More international fans who are engaged and willing to buy albums.

2) Changing definitions of what it means to be successful and increased competition. First with EXO and now also with BTS joining them to become this generation's million sellers. Fans are feeling the pressure to hit higher numbers.

The fact that exo sold one million albums when there wasn't any push to "beat competition" and just sold them like it was nothing made people realize that physcals were not dying and you could actually make money off of them if you sell enough.

The impact of BTS's HYYH era. More groups from smaller companies started to release multiple versions of their albums and in a similar format (different colors/concepts versions). I'm not saying that BTS were the first to do it, but they popularized it (esp. among smaller company acts).

Before YNWA and HER, who would've though that a mini and repack album could outsell or sell about as much as a full album. It was always full albums>>>>mini & repacks. BTS broke the standards.

Yeah it seems like these days most stores are Hanteo-affiliated, because Hanteo sales increased much more than Gaon sales
