I don't think that Yui would tell anyone that she is leaving a few days before a show. She fell down a stage once, and went up the next possible moment. Clearly she is loyal and dedicated, and wouldn't set up Moa and Suzuka like that. Amuse just announced it very late in the game. To come back after a year would require plenty of training to get her back into shape, and the official announcement stated that she never returned in the first place.

Some of the videos they took down were there well before Metal Resistance was released.

Problem is, the triangle at the centre looks as if it had been designed for the trio, which would indicate that BM staffers believed that Yui would come back. Then she decided not to and they were left with this mess - everything seems to point that way. There've been rumours in Japan that Yui was having problems while she was in high school. There were also rumours in Japan that Yui would leave BM, which turned out to be true.

My take on this whole dancer flood is that they try make Moametal easier replacable. If she develops problems like Yui, she could stay at home and the show could go on. Only corporations with shareholders breathing down their necks would come up with these sort of ideas.

Yes, I get that vibe too - corporate fuckery from way on high!

They also did this when Metal Resistance was released - that's how they work. They don't know how to deal with international fans.

Let's be honest here, the quartet doesn't work. The trio will not work without a counterpart for Moa. The only solution for them is to get a girl with a headset microphone back - something that they seem to be very resistant to. Perfume also had a member leave, but that was before Amuse corporate fuckery came into the picture, thank-god, so it was just a question of replacing the member who left with Nocchi.

It just works better as a trio, it doesn't mean they thought Yui would come back. The choreographies for the old songs were designed that way. They didn't tell anyone that Yui wouldn't be there for the US tour, until after some shows happend already. Thats Amuse for you. Someone at reddit has pointed out that there were still tickets avaiable for the Japan Shows, only days before the shows happend, indicating that sales were much slower than usual. They sold 110000 tickets for Tokyo Dome, and now they struggle to sell out much smaller halls. And whats with the low cost stage setup? I haven't seen all their Bluray yet, but their concerts in bigger halls usually had these big set ups in recent years. My guess is that Amuse has reduced funding, that they know for quite some time that Yui doesn't come back and were afraid that tickets sales would simply stop if they tell weeks in advance that she left. That Yui affair has brought the cracks in the organisation to the light, at least.

No offense but i care very little for rumours. People tend to either blow things up, or belittle them, or its out of context. Someone in the comment section of the official facebook page claimed that Suzuka and Moa are ready to move on as well, and he even said that Suzuka want to do a career in acting and modeling. I can't find anymore, but it was in the comments for Yui leaving.

BTW:

Understood.

But why create all this uncertainty when they could simply have released a statement about Yui leaving due to illness, just before the US tour, and simply replaced her with another girl and gone on as usual? This would've, logically, left things largely intact with a minimal amount of collateral  damage.

All this confusion did, was make the fandom absolutely toxic and kill off a lot of support for the group. It killed off the hype. Their You-tube views for the newly released songs are at a crawl and 3000 fans unsubscribed from, their Twitter account immediately  after Yui left. Just pointing out that this would make sense if they didn't know that Yui was leaving and found out at the last possible moment, rather than if they knew in advance and made all the wrong moves to make it worse instead of making it better. Just saying.

It depends on the source of the rumours. I would tend to accept Japanese rumours a little more than I would, rumours generated on Facebook, 4 Chan or any other western social media outlet.

Maybe Kobametal, who seems to be a genuinly nice and caring guy (at least thats what the people interviewing him tend to say), suggested after Yui's injury (which might lingering for awhile already at that point) and Mikio's death that they would take a while off, and regroup later when anything is dealt with, but the higher ups override his decision, and put someone else on top of him, who orders him to keep going no matter what. This whole Chosen 7 Thing, doesn't sound exactly like his idea. I've seen these things time and again in various companies. The old guard decides something, and some higher up with little experiance but some fancy title decides something else, but leaves the problems for the old dogs to solve, who are frequently rolling their eyes. Kobametal doesn't appear like someone who would push the girls mercilessly forward, to keep a momentum that was barely there to begin with, in early 2018. The things they did this year were actually very little. Short set lists that are hardly changed and they haven't done interviews for years, even though they certainly had tons of requests, with all these things going on. When Rob Halford recently praised Babymetal in an interview recently, he was probably doing more PR for them, than they had done the last two years, haha.

Yeah, rumours from Japan are probably more reliable, but i always wonder about the motivation to spread these things to begin with. And besides, who didn't had problems in school at some point. Yui appears to be a smart young woman, what with her remarks about the conformity of the japanese as compared to the non-conformity of the americans. In her age, i would have simply said "I like the cars", when asked about the USA. :D

I have to say that following Babymetal is kind of an emotional drainage. I'm a huge fan of Nana Mizuki, and own all her offical releases, and its like and day compared to Babymetal, and with her, things are never like this. In the 6 years since i started to follow her closely, i can't remember even a single bad remark about her managers, or the Sigma Seven agency she is signed with and she did tons of musical work as well as voice acting. She has a personal blog, and shares pictures of a new dress for a PV, or announces an album there or whatever. She isn't running off stage after 60 minutes, but performs more like 3 - 4 hours. Her Live Diamond 2009 concert lasted for almost 4 1/2 hours, and she performed 32 Songs there, if i recall it right. Its a 5 disc bluray release, Even just bidding farewell to the fans takes usually around 15 - 20 minutes. And then i switch to the barren drama wasteland that is Babymetalcounty and its all doom and gloom, and grasping at tiny things like them shouting "We are! Babymetal" again, as the epitome of fan interaction.

I don't want to knock the endearing and hardworking girls of Babymetal, i feel that there are three wonderful, and lovely people behind all the lore, stage personas and current drama, who genuinly love each other (even if there are tensions between Yui and the others, sooner or later their relationship will normalize again, no doubt) and their fans, but merely pointing out that i'm coming from a vastly different background and kinda spoiled rotten by Nana. Btw, thats her wiki page, i get tired just by scrolling down all the work she did, haha.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nana_Mizuki

Moametal, Su-metal, and Yuimetal (she can leave all she wants, she is one of them for eternity) are facing their hardships head on. Yui made a hard decision, that will make her go into an unknown future, and Moa and Suzuka, are trying their best to keep this thing alive, despite management hiccups, angry fans, and all the backstage drama we might never hear about. You can't get any cooler than that.

For bragging reasons, here is a Video of Nana Mizuki running and singing simultaniously. ;)

It just works better as a trio, it doesn't mean they thought Yui would come back. The choreographies for the old songs were designed that way.

But the shows outside of Japan were not based on the trio, so...

To me the natural explanation is that they planned the shows hoping that Yui would be able to come back but with an extra dancer as an "understudy" in case she didn't which could explain the timing of the announcement and so on.

Tickets to DNC only went on general sale days before the concert, after the YUI announcement, and they still sold out.

They also released more tickets in the days leading up to the shows when they finalize stage design and camera placement and so on, but they always do that.

No need for doomdsday prophecies, or at least they should be based on something real.

I believe that Yui's sickness only served as a catalyst for her leaving the group. No CMs, no interviews  or performances on radio and television, long (and possibly exhausting) trips abroad. Not being allowed access to social media, whatsoever. No work outside Babymetal. It's totally within the realm of possibility that Yui's parents yanked her from the group because they did not exactly see eye to eye with what Amuse was telling them and they honestly did not see BM going anywhere.

That may also be the reason why Moa's parents as well as Su's were flown by Amuse to The Netherlands, earlier in the year - to give them (especially Moa's parents) and idea of how big and important the project is to the company's foreign expansion.

I have to say that following Babymetal is kind of an emotional drainage.

Well, blame Amuse for totally dropping the ball when it came to Babymetal. this year.

Following Babymetal has largely been a fun ride over the years in spite of ZERO fan-service from the group. This was mainly due to Babymetal's considerable international achievements. All of which have been flushed down the toilet, in the space of a few months. Way too many changes have been made - most not for the better (for example, the hair and the outfits as well as The Chosen Seven).

In spite of two fabulous singles being released, this year, hype is at ZERO because nasty surprises (KCMO, news of Yui leaving) have been packaged out to the fandom along with them. It's not at all surprising that Koba has not released an album so far, in spite of the fact that they certainly have material for it!

Let's see what happens - all we can do is hope for the best.

An oldie but a goodie!

Back when Babymetal used to do variety and interviews:

Interesting YT comment: To realise that these children in a few months time would stand in front of 50.000 metalheads at Sonisphere and pull it off, is the greatest miracle possible.

Today the world got a little bit better again :)

Babymetal opening for Judas Priest and it was nice for an opening show. People were already freaking out when they saw the stage with three platform and they weren't disappointed :) Saya from the japanese shows was present as third girl and so many people approved them performing as three again.

Here's a nice fancam with decent audio from Megitsune

Throughout the show all the girls looked so happy and enthusiastic, was such a joy to watch ilikeitplz.png
