Hello, i'm new to Babymetal. I was searching for Nana Mizuki vids on youtube last Saturday, and YT also suggested the Karate PV. I was instantly hooked. I am already familiar with japanese Heavy Metal through Onmyouza, though. I know the name Babymetal already for years, but never bothered to check them out, haha. Anyway, i hope there is a new album on the way and that Yuimetal returns. I read about it the last couple of days and it sounds like a major screw up. I've been through this popular-bandmate-disappears business already and this always takes a toll on the fanbase as well as the group.

Anyway, i hope there is a new album on the way and that Yuimetal returns. I read about it the last couple of days and it sounds like a major screw up. I've been through this popular-bandmate-disappears business already and this always takes a toll on the fanbase as well as the group.

 

 

Well, BM has been going through some difficult times. It's been tough for the fandom this year. First Yui getting out of action an then Mikio Fujioka falling off a celestial observation platform and passing away earlier in the year, leaving behind a wife an two kids. Let's see what lies ahead. BM haven't announced an album yet  but they have announce a graphic novel which should be available at the end of this month. Rumours abound about the novel having a companion soundtrack, but they're JUST rumours - let's see what happens...

Thanks for the welcome and the summary! The death of the guitarist is a terrible tragedy.

 

However, i like the couple of new songs they played recently. I'm curious about the graphic novel. The artstyle looks very interesting.

I'm not sure about it being released as an international Blu-ray right now.

 

They've got a new deal with Universal, it depends on Amuse. Having said that, there certain Blu-rays that were made available but Amuse stopped releasing videos internationally on physical when they found that Sony was sleeping on the job of promoting Babymetal in the US. Of course, they got out of the deal with Sony and now have their own label which is under Universal/5B Records/Cooking Vinyl. 

 

You can get Blu-rays from Asmart! www.asmart.jp The prices are high, but the site is actually machine-translatable into English and several other languages and currency friendly and has the DHL as an international shipping option so that one does not have to go through Tenso in order to get merch from Amuse artists.

Well, Amuse has, for the most part, done a fairly good job when it came to promoting BM internationally. There were miscalculations made, like them failing to inform US and European audience of Yui's absence on this year's tour. Still, there's a lot more to be done if  they plan on getting them mainstream.

Wish they would stop using them in the album version on many songs, but live this song will go through the roof like Distortion too is live so much better than the studio version. But for years now i think they make the album versions on purpose worse than they had to be, just to make fans buy more live recordings ;)

They've been processing Su's voice since time-immemorial. I believe that high pitched vocals are a requirement to sell the album in JapanT. To get it onto radio in the US  over-processed vocals are the order-of-the-day as is sonic compression. Unfortunately, the market for raw, unprocessed vocals and instrumentals without compression has shrunk down to a point where wherethe names of audiophile friendly artists such as Vanessa Fernandez (When The Leevee Breaks & Use Me) rule the roost.

Thank you for continually supporting BABYMETAL. We would like to inform you of BABYMETAL’s new beginning which will be effective starting this month’s BABYMETAL WORLD TOUR 2018 in JAPAN performances.

YUIMETAL had expressed her desire to return performing with the group in the following months after last December’s performance due health concerns. During her absence, both SU-METAL and MOAMETAL as well as the entire staff team had been preparing for her awaited return. However, YUIMETAL came to a decision that she will not be performing at BABYMETAL WORLD TOUR 2018 in JAPAN and that she will no longer be a part of BABYMETAL. We thank her for all of her contributions and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

This month’s BABYMETAL WORLD TOUR 2018 in JAPAN will mark the rebirth in which SU-METAL and MOAMETAL form the core of BABYMETAL. 

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the fans for the continued support and look forward in what’s next for BABYMETAL.

A message to my fans,

I am truly sorry for the inconvenience I have caused so many people due to being absent for an extended period of time. I have   mulled over this over and over again but, I have decided to leave BABYMETAL at this time.

I feel very sorry that my decision will disturb the other members and some many fans who have supported BABYMETAL. I am further terribly sorry to sadden the fans who have supported BABYMETAL.

I had the strong desire to appear on stage again but my physical condition is not at its best even now, and further I feel that I would like to pursue my dream, one that I have had from a long time ago, of going on my own as Mizuno Yui. It is these factors that led to my decision.

I am thankful for the numerous and precious experiences I was able to have being a part of BABYMETAL. I always felt day to day that I was truly blessed. The live shows where we all smiled together and became as One were truly happy and enjoyable times.

I will do my utmost best to be able to again one day meet all of you as Mizuno Yui.

Hmm, i don't know what to think about the video. The song itself is great but when seeing the video i'm asking myself what's the idea behind that. We know Koba has his artistic visions he wants to accomplish but i'm still not seeing where the chosen seven will lead to. One of the few times where i have no definite opinion - i'm just so confused.

 

I can't wait to hear the first live version of Starlight - it will hit so hard, not only emotionally with the lyrics but under Su's singing the song is so hard hitting with that bassline. And i totally love the break where the music just slaps you in the face to remind you of it in case you have forgotten being distracted by Su's voice

 

And regarding Yui: I wish her all the best! I'm sad to hear it but the last months prepared me emotionally enough for it to be rather calm. It's finally closure and i'm really curious how they will continue - will they introduce someone new since it's now clear she won't come back or create new choreography for basically everything and continue with Moa and Su ;)
