I wonder why I was born a minority

Why wasn't I born white like the majority in my area? Why was I always the only black person in the room?

Why was I born black in a country that hates me? Why was my soul put into a black girl's soul?

Why me?

It's confusing.

I've felt this before tbh. Not wishing to be white or another ethnicity, but just feeling so uncomfortable about being the only black/minority person in an entire town before, it was a really isolating experience. But as I grew up I started to like being different

I'm a white person in a country that's overwhelmingly white, but I feel like that too, for very different reasons of course. "Tyranny of the majority", as John Stuart Mill once put it, is a very real thing, it doesn't matter if the reason you're different from everyone else is as visible as the colour of your skin, or as subtle as your inner self.

There were plans to give freed slaves in the US a couple of states in the West actually, I think that would've been the best course of action considering everything that happened since; sure, Native Americans would've been screwed anyway and nothing at all would've changed for them. Oh well.

At least on the internet the only way you can be looked down upon is if you act like a dick, I'm willing to bet that some of the most racist people on this site are BFFs with people they'd avoid IRL if they knew how they looked like.

if you loathe your current condition

why don't you change it?

Yea because it is so easy? How exactly is she supposed to change anything.

Girl you have to be unapologetically black, if you are black you stand in it in all shades okk, you have things that people wish they can have, they spent thousands back then to have people like you because we provide things they are incapable of. You are the bullet, you trigger, you propel them to work harder, they try to beat people like you but you are the masterkey, they need you succeed so they try to silence you but you come from a long line of survivors, so you live anyway. We live, even in death we live it's what we do. Be proud girl, I know it's hard with the things we face everyday, the words to we hear, it's so easy for someone on the internet to say we are screaming wolves when there is none but this is an example of the plight of a black man. You work hard to be successful, you work hard until they can't stand your presence, you work until they are peasants compared to you. Get that degree in everything including humility. Being black comes with bearing the load but the same people will come begging on their knees. So girl don't question it,prove to them why you cannot be the modern slave.

And to y'all racist on this site when I have your time, we gon go back to school, so hold on to your wigs.

Wasn't implying that it's easy, change isn't easy, it's necessary, especially when it comes to self happiness.

There are a plethora of ways to change that's not superficial, like attitude, in which you yourself offered the OP a change to consider within her own attitude.

I'd like to offer a change in environment, since the OP is college age perhaps a HBCU, or a move to Desoto Texas, environment that could potentially help her feel better about herself.

Sure there are plethora of ways in which things could change and dear change of environment can only do much, first step is accepting and every other things come after that, if you dont change your attitude towards certain things in life, it becomes the driver and author of your choices, maybe attitude is not the only thing we need to change but why run away from it if it is almost everywhere you go, the feeling I mean. Even in a change of environment she would still feel the same way. It's not a physical thing it's psychological, it's a huge percent of most black kids, it's stuffs we have to go through, I have been through stuffs, i have changed environment multiple times but I am still singing the same song except I switch up the lyrics and melody from the original, the first battle is the battle with self and OP has to win that in order to move on to the next stage.

OP welcome to life. You are amazing and beautiful just the way you are, be proud of it.

ok, the bottom line is change is necessary, do-able, and helpful in whatever package it comes in to include a move to a nurturing enviroment.

My first statement was vague for a reason.

Critical thought is a skill that too many people lack these days, I'm afraid rolleyes.gif
