Like everyone said I think it makes him flustered and he would rather be praised for his work. Taeyong knows he's good-looking, he has been told that for years by now and that confidence overflows when he's on stage or when he's posing in front of the camera, fashion week being the latest example. He knows but he's humble about it AND he probably doesn't want to be known for his face alone. I mean, he's not practicing for hours til his body hurts for people to only praise his visuals.
