Do you think there should be more male sexualization?

We never really come across a man being as 'sexual' as a woman, and if we do, well it's not gonna be something all over the internet like Adriana Lima being naked for a photoshoot.

There's a lot I have to say on this topic, but I really don't know how to word it well. It's just a bunch of mumbo jumbo. But yeah, media likes to forget that straight females (and gay men) exist. Movies usually have a woman topless or showing her ass that doesn't do anything to the plot or improve character development (whether breasts or even a butt are really a sexual object is another debate). Like, do you think every actress who goes nude told the director "I want to be shirtless"? The director wanted her to go nude, and she complied. Some actresses don't mind being nude, others do. But does every movie need to have a scene with a strip club? We all heard of Harvey Weinstein and the shit he has done to innocent actresses, some wanting to become famous, others already super famous. If you want to become famous nowadays, you gotta be sexy. No more Meryl Streep.

Breasts aren't the same as a penis of course, but we let men go shirtless in places women are not allowed to. In movies, a shirtless (and buff) man signifies a strong man. It's usually cause they are getting in some fight or are working out. Also in a sex scene we see them nude, but we see more of the woman than the man.

I hear on European beaches, particularly on the South of France, women are allowed to be topless and no really bats an eye at that (except foreign men whose society makes a topless woman be very sexual). God forbid here in the US we allow women to be topless at the beach (or breastfeed). Wearing a speedo at a European beach is normal and more favored than swim trunks, but here in the US we see that a man in a speedo at the beach and think it's gross and "gay".

I hope you get the gist of this. You may or may not agree with me, but what do you think? Should we start making men go nude more often, appear more sexual? Or do you believe we should stop making people go naked, get rid of "the male gaze", be more conservative? Or maybe normalize a woman being nude, that the naked body is a beautiful thing and you shouldn't fap every time you see a naked woman? Let me know smile.png

A LOT of these women do not want to go nude, they just feel like they have to to get the role (and in most cases they do have to because if they refuse someone else is just going to get the role).

Do I want men to be in this position too? Forced to take of their clothes when they don't want to just to make a living? No. Two wrongs do not make a right.

And what's the point of the comparison to European beaches. In places where women do go to the beach topless it is because breast aren't inherently sexualised but your entire post is about sexualising bodies even more than they currently are.

I don't see how that would help in any way? Plus the male gaze is a certain type of sexualization (objectification, more like), doesn't have anything to do with being conservative or not. It's just the reflection of a set of views on men/women and their interactions. And this concept has its limits too.

Males are sexualized as much as females - the difference is that male sexualization isn't seen as "taboo" or "racy".

Hmmm no.

I think there should be less hypersexualization in both gender, we need to come to a point as humans and realize we are people, someone's elses daughter and son, it's reductive and we lose so much when we see others as meat

This

tho the whole "they're someone child, mom/dad, sister/bro" expression kind lowkey irk me... it's like you should naturally be able to treat them as another human being instead of needing it to relate to you on a personal level to actually sympathize with them...

not about you OP but in general.

A lot of actresses have spoken up about being nude on camera and it's something they do not mind. But like I said there are actresses who do not want to be nude and shouldn't have to be nude. But we see a lot of nude scenes of women that aren't necessary, they're just there cause sex sells. I brought up movies and we see a lot of female nudity more than male nudity, cause a woman nude appeals to straight men (and lesbians, but straight men are a larger demographic) and it's seen as very sexual. Why not have the actor naked as well? The director doesn't ask them as much. Of course, that is if the actor wants to without pressure from the rest of the crew or their manager.

I'm American, we are much more prudish. Being topless on European beaches is something I found out in the past few days. Why let men be shirtless over here but not women? The Europeans don't mind and accept that but Americans can't. It's just too much for us apparently. If we keep thinking that a woman not wearing anything to cover her breasts is not allowed, we're just gonna keep sexualizing them even more. (I am not saying they should be sexualized more).

In my last paragraph, I brought up what you (the OH users) think. I guess the question in my title wasn't the best wording. I make a lot of different statements in my OP. It brings a lot of more questions than in my title. I'm just annoyed how anytime a woman shows cleavage in her dress that it's such a scandal.

Yeah, I agree. It's seen as taboo, and at least here in the US, the media gives more attention to a sexy female.

I agree, especially with how sexualization necessarily seems to fold in a layer of objectification too - like the moment a boy or girl is considered a sexual person we seem to forget that they are a human being too.

women don't go around raping men who take off their shirts on street , on other hand men may rape woman who do the same action , it's not cuz men are less sexualized then women , it's cuz women are not as strong and dominant as men in nature , also it's less likely for woman to attack shirtless man then man attacking topless woman , you may say what you want but that have been the case for centuries now .. men do get raped but they more likely to get raped by another male then female , specially in prison .

In what culture?

In western culture, YES! I want to see men dancing half-naked behind a female artist! I want to see half-naked sexy body male model selling me a car. Even better yet, selling make-up!
